Perhaps it would help if they started using Capitalized Terms when they refer to something that actually has a definition somewhere.
As would be done in any business contract.
Capitalized Terms: words which have a specific meaning, regardless of the particular context. Contrasted with generic words which mean whatever a judge says they mean.
Quoted for truth! I like to do that regularly in my posts (for clarity sake), but it would make it easier if they did, too.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
Were I to bet, I'd bet they do something more along the lines of making a new definition of standard character that only excludes such things as team bases, vehicles, duos, and colossals and is completely at odds with what's currently in the rulebook, then pretending it was that way all along.
one does not necessarily preclude the other. They could do both of what we described.
Or, they could issue a new rulebook with the Superman/Batman and/or the TMNT sets that are expected in late 2015/early 2016 and have a completely new definition of "standard character", making all of this moot.
And it might snow in Cabo on New Year's Eve. Whaaat - it could happen.

I've been kinda hoping for one with SM/WW but I was disappointed with there being no started pack
I'm pretty sure that TMNT are more "mainstream" that a lot of Marvel/DC stuff.
depends on your notion of that, I grew up watching GI Joe and thought TMNT was weird, but yes I'm sure more people could identify the turtles than Rocket Raccoon. I mean more that Wizkids doesn't really stick with non-DC/Marvel sets. Yu-Gi-Oh and Lotr/Hobbit are the only two i can think of that got more than one set.

That is what mainstream means, is it not?

I'm pretty sure he means "mainstream heroclix". TMNT are not that. At least they aren't that yet. TMNT Heroclix could turn into Wizkids cash cow at some future point where the focus was on producing heroclix of different sets of TMNT, and the current "mainstream heroclix" focusing on Marvel and DC characters became a secondary or altogether abandoned part of heroclix. Maybe that will happen, but a single unreleased starter and fast forces set of heroclix based on something previously not produced as heroclix I do not consider "mainstream heroclix". Regardless of if they are considered "mainstream" in other areas of the license's existence or not. And I'm pretty sure you could easily infer that this was his meaning as well.
I didn't say it meant that. I said it seems the designers think it means that.
And I asked you why you thought that. Instead of giving me an answer, you went on a weird rant about HeroClix being cosmically unknowable, and then acted like that actually answered my question.
It really was a simple question--why do you interpret the wes answer the way you do? If your answer is just because that's what character you intuitvely think of as "standard," just say that. But don't say that the reason you know a thing is that no one knows the thing and expect me to treat that as anything but the nonsense that it is.

And my point was that HeroClix itself is not mainstream. TMNT has more name recognition than a lot of existing HeroClix, both within starters and other sets.
