Capture and Pulse Wave Interaction (or loss of power)
I guess the general question is if a character that captured an opposing character loses the capture ability by either losing the power (via clicking the dial) or having it ignored in some way (via Pulse Wave), are the captives immediately rescued?
Scenario 1 - Character X has a special attack power that gives him the capture ability. Say he has an action token and you give him a power action to use capture which succeeds. After the action resolves the character takes pushing damage and no longer has the power granting the capture ability. Does the captive get immediately rescued?
Scenario 2 - Character Y can use the capture ability through a trait and has 2 captives on his card. Opposing Character Z decides to use Pulse Wave and Character Y is in the area of effect (thus having all of his "game effects" ignored for the action). Do the captives get immediately "rescued" during the use of the opposing character's Pulse Wave?
Pulse Wave:
Give this character a ranged combat action even if it is adjacent to an opposing character; the area of effect for this attack is half the character’s range value. Draw lines of fire to all other characters within the area of effect, including at least one opposing character; these lines of fire ignore all game effects except for walls, blocking and elevated terrain.
Game effects possessed or used by characters with a line of fire drawn to them are ignored until the action has been resolved. If a line of fire is drawn to more than 1 character, this character’s damage value becomes 1 and is locked. Each character hit is dealt damage.
1. Actually losing the power that gave you capture will cause the captive to be rescued even if the power is not possessed. Follow the rescue procedures outlined on p. 20 of the rulebook.
WES-WIN
If a special power that grants the Capture ability is countered while the character has a captive, you follow all rules as if the captured character has been rescued. Note that when countering a special power granting the Capture ability, you do not have to roll any d6's to see if you are able to counter the special power.
2. Ignoring a power is not the same as countering or losing a power. PW will not rescue captives by itself (short of a KO).
