If I hit my opponent's last remaining Character that has a Mystic TA and gets knocked out and my character (also remaining on my force) is on it's last click, will i take the unavoidable damage? If so, do we both lose the game?
My understanding is yes you do get damage since the Mystic damage is delt directly after attack damaged is dealt, so before the character is take off board because it has been KOed.
again as I underdsrand it:
Once both character are off the board you tally up the points.
The person with most points wins (which is possible since team have different point totals).
If your tied for point you go to roll off.

This is correct. Just make sure you use the points scored. Do not just compare build totals.
The same principle applies to pushing yourself to KO on the last action.
Here's a recap of one of my favorite games. (Originally posted here)

One of my most memorable games ended this way.
The tournament format was 300 points modern age. There would be two rounds of swiss followed by a battle royal between all of the people who qualified via the swiss rounds. To qualify, you needed to win at least one game during the swiss rounds. Two wins earned you two themed team probs (ie, probs that worked just like them, so you could use them even without a themed team) to use during the battle royal.
My team was:
#040 Doctor Destiny - 99
#054 Barry Allen - 119
#003 Tomar Re - 75
Violet Lantern - 5
Total: 298 points
In the first round I faced this team:
#001 Martian Manhunter - 158
#055 Shazam! and Black Adam - 140 (Starting HSS/PC)
Total: 298 points
Very early into the game Barry manages to take out Blazam! From there is was a battle to pin down the Martian Manhunter. I managed to get him tied up with Tomar Re. A combination of good dice luck for me, Dr. D's Outwit, and Flash (and the others) chipping away at MM, I finally managed to get MM onto his last click...HSS and Regen. MM was clear of tokens, and I was out of actions. I could Outwit either HSS or Regen. While neither one was great to have remaining on the dial, I had to Outwit the HSS and hope for a bad Regen roll. The alternative would simply have him using the auto-break to flee where he could safely Regen anyway.
He rolls he Regen and gets a 6. The tables quickly turned and I shortly found myself down to just the Flash.
We were playing on the Rainbow Bridge map which was working well for MM, but Flash couldn't keep up. I had to start furiously pushing Flash to get to his Around the World clicks.
Eventually I succeeded in getting MM back down to his last click. It was my turn. Martian Manhunter was clear of tokens within striking distance of Flash. Flash had one token. I had to give it a shot. I used Around the World one last time to get two shots at KOing the Manhunter. I hopped over and made the first attack...miss. Second attack...hit. Manhunter is KOed. Flash takes his push and is also KOed...total double elimination.
My opponent pauses and says something like "I guess we roll off since both teams were 298." I had to point out that since my Violet Lantern was still in play that I won the 298 to 293.
That was a fun game, and my opponent played excellently.
