SAVING THE PRESIDENT: Once per game, if another friendly character within 10 squares and line of fire would be hit by a range attack, you may place The Flash in a square adjacent to the target and that attack misses that target. If you do, for the rest of the game, The Flash's speed value becomes 0 and he can use Sidestep and Outwit.
Pulse Wave:
Give this character a ranged combat action even if it is adjacent to an opposing character; the area of effect for this attack is half the character’s range value. Draw lines of fire to all other characters within the area of effect, including at least one opposing character; these lines of fire ignore all game effects except for walls, blocking and elevated terrain.
Game effects possessed or used by characters with a line of fire drawn to them are ignored until the action has been resolved. If a line of fire is drawn to more than 1 character, this character’s damage value becomes 1 and is locked. Each character hit is dealt damage.
Questions:
Would The Flash's Trait work on a friendly character that has been single-target Pulse Waved? The Flash would not in the Area-of-Effect (AOE) when the line was initially drawn to the target, but would be in the AOE when the target "would be hit by a ranged attack."
Does "would be hit" mean after the attack has happened, but before actions resolve?
Could The Flash negate a single-target PW with his Trait by being in the AOE, and thus be hit too?
1. Yes. Since he is not in Pulse Wave's AoE his trait is not ignored. .
2. Would be hit means just that. When the character would be hit by the attack. Which is between the attack roll and dealing damage. Since it triggers on would be hit it is triggered just before the hit is actually established as such.
3. No. The targets for the attack has allready been set. So he will not be targeted.
