This just came up in a game a week ago, and I wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything.
So giant size gives "Lines of fire drawn to or from this
character are not blocked by elevated terrain or outdoor blocking
terrain, and are hindered only if the line of fire is drawn to a square of
hindering terrain that includes the target. Protected: Pulse Wave."
This means that they cannot see over indoor blocking terrain, (we usually explained this as it's because it goes to the roof, thinking in 3D, even though that's bad in this game).
However, we started playing on the ironman map from earth x, where there is elevated terrain with blocking terrain on the lower elevation between them. blocking terrain says "Line of Fire: Blocking terrain prevents a line of fire from being drawn between two squares. Any line of
fire crossing a square of blocking terrain is blocked, except for a line of fire between two characters both on an elevation higher than that of blocking terrain"
The rules for the rim also say "A line of fire between different elevations is blocked by: Blocking terrain on the lower elevation"
So we ruled that if the giant sized character and the target where both on the elevated terrain then they could see each other, but even though the giant size it effectively "taller" than the elevated and can draw lof through it, if either character is on the lower elevation, then the blocking terrain still blocks.
Did we miss anything in this? (Because as with most things in clix, this makes no real world logical sense, but it seemed to make clix sense.)
You're correct. You nailed it with this section here:
"Line of Fire: Blocking terrain prevents a line of fire from being drawn between two squares. Any line of fire crossing a square of blocking terrain is blocked, except for a line of fire between two characters both on an elevation higher than that of blocking terrain."
If the elevation is on a lower elevation and both characters are on higher elevation, you see over it.
