hi, i know this question has been answered in certain conditions but i would like to hear on this case:
character with range 4, wants to target colossal with stealth that is 4 squares away and only half is in hindering, that is the 2 squares, 4 squares away, are in hindering, the other 2, 5 squares away, are not in hindering
would i be able to hit it with a range attack if i cannot reach the unhindered squares?
You only draw Line of Fire to a single square of the characters base. That Line of Fire is the only one that matters.
ok, just to make sure because people are being hard headed on my end, if the square im targeting of the multibase colosal with stealth, is hindering, that square has stealth, correct?
The technical answer is, if the square of a colossal multibased figure you're drawing LoF in in Hindering Terrain, then that LoF is hindered. If you draw a hindered Line of Fire to a character with Stealth, that LoF becomes blocked.
The attacker would need a range of at least 5 in that scenario to "see" the unhindered squares the base occupies. (And would be able to do so even if they are behind the hindered squares.) Sounds like you know that part though.
Not counting Great Size, which usually accompanies multibases, once you pick your target square there are no differences from drawing a line of fire to a single base character:

ATTACKING AND MULTI-BASE CHARACTERS
When targeting or otherwise drawing a line of fire to a multi-base character, the source can choose to target any one square occupied by the multi-base character. Other squares of the same multi-base character do not block this line of fire.

It’s very difficult to use Stealth with multi-base characters, since if even one square is not in hindering, opposing characters may be able to draw a line of fire to it.
