Notice that he does not reduce damage, but ignores damage. He is only going to take 1 damage, period. No Exploit, No Psychic Blast. Only PW can hurt him for more.
Perfect Mastermind fodder.
Figured somebody else would point this out, first, so rep to you. Hands-down, the best Mastermind fodder piece, ever.
Let's Play "Whoizzit?"
My Avatar is an as-yet-un-clixed character. If you know who it is, be the first respondant to correctly identify this character I'll send you some free rep!
Ahhh, Blob. This brings back memories of the old X-Men arcade game. Now, if they would only print good versions of the X-Men in the costumes from that game, I would be a happy dude.
Haha, that's what I always think of for the Blob, too!
You know what can move the Blob, though? BatB Robin with his "Leverage" power (at least on Blob's first click.)
His stats are horrible and his special power is inaccurate. Figures with 1 damage value will hurt him as much as figures with 5 damage. Cyclops has punched right through him with a tight beam. I don't see why he should ignore psiblast/ew. He should have just had regular old imprevious or invulnerability.
Plus, with only one click of 3 damage, he's pretty much gonna get hit by someone he fights a lot (Hulk, Colossus), take one damage and never be able to hurt them.
I mean, from a gameplay standpoint, he's great tie up/mastermind fodder. Thing is, I didn't go into this set saying "Boy, I hope we get some excellent tie up/mastermind fodder." I said "I hope we get a good Blob."
So far I can think of two uses for this blob. Mastermind fodder (Has the same powers as Ulik, but MUUUUUCH cheaper!) and tie down piece. Instead of tking him over to a victim, use tk or force blast to get them to the blob.
Always try to leave an internet argument at lvl 1!
His trait should be optional, he should be able to move if he wants to be moved. If they ever make a transporting Avalance, I want him to be able to carry Blob on his avalanche.
Secondly, I would have liked if his defense power had Toughness in there. As it is, a common Mugger can deal as much damage as any superhuman opponent.

I know what you mean but the way I look at it is the X-Men were taken in and given specialized training to get where they are skill wise. I don't see the Brotherhood members having the training the X-men had. If Blob had been trained by Prof X instead of used by other villains he would be a 90-100 character.
true enough. i guess i was hoping for a bit more of something. like some have said, having a fig that deals only 1 damage being able to actually hurt Blob is just....wrong.
and whenever i think of blob, i think of how people's fists/feet/etc keep getting stuck in his gut when he's being hit....which could have been represented by some kind of token/incap type power.
i never expected this piece to have sick numbers or damage potential, but he should have been a lot better at annoyance/tie up.
he could easily be killed with a simple PW or outwit. sure, you could argue that any regular fig could be taken down in the same manner, but the point i'm trying to make is that this will be an especially useful way to score some easy points in Blob's case specifically.
outwit layers, hit him for 3 and then all of a sudden his stellar 8 attack will strike fear in the hearts of pogs everywhere, because that's about all he'll be able to hit. just tie up Blob with a Ken Hale pog and it's all over for this guy
all that being said, i will still play him of course, because i love the brotherhood, but i am just a tad miffed.

(Attack) Here's Your Friend Back: Give Hulk a close combat action that deals no damage. If it hits, place the target in a square adjacent to an opposing character who is within 10 squares and line of fire. Then make a ranged combat attack against that second opposing character, even if that attack would normally be illegal. If this second attack hits, deal both characters 3 penetrating damage. (Damage) Brainwashed: Friendly characters may target Hulk with Mind Control.
(Special) The Second Horseman: War: Modify Hulk's attack value by +1 until the end of the turn for each opposing character who took damage from an attack this turn.
There you go

i think (and i could definitely be way off here) what normalview was trying to point out, is that Hulk 'Places' the target, he doesn't 'move' it. so, that isn't the illegal part. the illegal part (and this is where i may be corrected) would be if, after having legally placed Blob, Hulk could then do the ranged attack part of his SP even if it would be illegal. the ranged part would be the illegal part for many reasons.
first, Hulk has no range, so a ranged attack would be illegal.
second, if Hulk were still based with another figure, the ranged attack would be illegal.
however, placing Blob is totally legal.
is this what you were getting at normalview?
and on a side note, could Hulk actually do the ranged portion even if based by another opposing fig? i think he would be able to, but just wanna make sure.
