lord of the plants - man this gifs itself. i wouldn't be able to hold a straight face any time i fielded him and my opponent wouldn't be able to resist smarting me with a frying pan from all the cheeky fun i'd have from his name alone. when you hear berserker, you definitely aren't expecting this . now, all snark aside, the dial's got legs. the ability to nerf hindered movement is no slouch. it's not just messing with dials with , thanks to the pac's embracing of all things for consistency and brevity, that means you can't l/c over it, all are getting snatched out of the air, superman has to suck it and you can't even p/t through it! that bush is going to stick and while simple an elegant and subdued way to produce a powerful effect with produce. the 10er getting to make some permanent hindering is no slouch either, even if it's gotta be nearby as a POWER. btw i really like the range parsed off of his dial, though i think it'd be more effective in the sp and then you'd be able to eliminate the need for the adjacency proviso in the . just my $.02, though
cornucopia - of course the chubby chick gets this name. i would get in so much trouble. modest effects on both but the ability to keep churning them out will be the real value as one of your teammates cold-cocks and opponent with a new set of duds or sets you up to finally have the foodfight of your life. the effects are mild enough i wish her let adjacent friendlies equip for free to make it more functional. i can only imagine how hard it was to make something for her in this game's mechanics and how tempting it must have been to bunt out a dial with simple support. i applaud you for doing something different with her and the constant generation of objects for various other triggers and just plain old object attack fuel feels like the abundance she's named for
"Sigh" There's always one in every group that just can't get with the costume scheme and has to go tacky.....also I think Phil stole Firebrand's pants.
Tacky costume or not generating permanent hindering terrain is excellent and well worth the cost of the dial. Especially when combined with some very useful Empower and making the enemy forces unable to traverse hindering.
However Cornucopia is on point costume wise and has awesome strategic potential!
Handing out one shot Willpower and reducers is never going to not be useful. Move you combat monster up to that annoying Poison piece and get in a shot without worrying about if it'll take an extra turn to KO that @$#%.
That amazing glass cannon can't sustain fire without Leadership or burning itself out?
No problem Carla packed you a snack, string cheese and juice boxes for ALL!
LOL, you made me spit-take my water with that last line. Carla was a tough one to come up with an angle on also. She make people new clothes and create feasts. Well, pseudo-toughness and willpower seemed to fit the job nicely enough.
As if Lord of the Plants was not a tacky enough name, he's got the pants to back it up LOL. Of course we have to blame Carla for his outfit (she obviously was a huge fan of the Firebrand comic). Besides nothing says Lord of the Plants more than red and orange. I mean, I guess the roses on the breastpiece tie it all together
LoP was certainly one of the easier ones to do. He had the standard make plants grow and wrap you up.
lord of the plants btw i really like the range parsed off of his dial, though i think it'd be more effective in the sp and then you'd be able to eliminate the need for the adjacency proviso in the . just my $.02, though
I think that's what I meant to do so he didn't have range on his normal joe click. I must be getting old...

My Gift Is Combat: Attack +1 when making a close attack. FREE: Replace Brawler's attack value with the highest attack value on the map.
ROWDY (CHARGE)
I KNOW THE WAYS OF THE WARRIORS (BLADES/CLAWS/FANGS)
TRAINED MARTIAL ARTIST (COMBAT REFLEXES)
DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU (EXPLOIT WEAKNESS)
VIOLENT TENDENCIES (EMPOWER)
BOXING (CLOSE COMBAT EXPERT)
now that's a nice dial. gloriously dangerous topdial but ...gloriously dangerous backdial, just in a different way. i really enjoy the dial flow here and the ability to always be relevant is grand. i *almost* wish the sp was on the tenner, but i totally understand why he shouldn't be grabbing the highest attack value at that low cost. i think i just pine for that +1 to go with his streamlined close combat dial. either way i truly appreciate that in all 3 legs of the dial, he's attacking differently. far from a 1 trick pony, he knows how to brawl all the ways
and this is where the art shines, too. great design, but just the quiet potential of his posture screaming violence at the blink of an eye. you know, you're not getting near enough credit for committing wholeheartedly to this subtheme. we'd never get this from wk and it's a shame cause you're shining the potential of a strange, small subtheme fully fleshed out
Jacques has a plethora of keywords, which is a good thing because I want to work him into all those teams.
He'd make a heck of a bodyguard. Have you got a character you desperately don't want based, park Brawler nearby and your opponent will have to think twice before they send someone behind your lines to tie them down.
He'd be a blast in a high point game where he could borrow a truly stupefying Attack score with My Gift Is Combat.

oh, so nice. such a trope, and yet it has never been quite so well as you have. the animal summons coming from the edge of the map is so dang tasty, just packed full of flavor. and the variety of animals are neat, particularly in how you've parsed their individual abilities. but the theme of limited blades, but each one has it's own animalistic means of breaking through their limitations? i'm geeking out over here. the elk getting to gore? the bear punishing you for not getting away? the wolf's strength in numbers? butter my britches and take me to church, i'm in love with this dial. marc singer would be proud

One of the things I most love about making tightly themed sets are the random characters that would never make the cut of a real set. There is no way WK would ever make the Berzerkers and it's too bad. Just look at all the fun their missing...
This guy was tough in that I didn't want him to be overpowered at 30 pts. The other dials all have some sort of meta power to inflate their effectiveness at such low points. This is more straight forward. He probably should have invul but man that eats up a lot of points. Even with the slight cheat on the attack value with the special power

LOL. Yeah, I one time brought the CW Wolverine to a Galactus fight. That was fun boosting his attack value to like 14 or 15 for an attack. Galactus squished him after that but it was worth it.
I'm waffled on whether or not to give them the Asgardian keyword. Now I'm wavering on the side of they should have it. Maybe I'll add it later.

If I remember correctly he was a real piece of work in the series. We'll forgive him however as he's a pog pumping fool in this iteration!
I'd give him more grief over his costume, but he's at least chosen to wear pants. He does have a very punchable face though.
Thirty points for a triumvirate of mammalian minions is never going to be less than a steal.
Yeah, he, Pathfinder, and Brawler were all that special kind of 80's douchebag.
And the most punchable face. Lord if that's not a QFT, I don't know what is

Score points the the pack pun. I wanted to try to keep them balanced but also give each one a fun play off bcf.
I did lean heavy on the free MC that has been the stock and trade of all animal loving heroes.

Found The Path: FREE: Assign a Path token a character, clearing any Path tokens from other characters.
My Gift Is I Can Track Anything: Opposing characters within 6 squares can not use Stealth. Characters with the Path token assigned can't use Shape Change or Sidestep when in Pathfinder's line of fire.
On The Trail: FREE: Pathfinder and adjacent friendly characters can move 1 square closer to the character assigned the Path token. If Pathfinder is on click #11, this is a power action instead.
ON THE HUNT (SIDESTEP)
WE CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT (BLADES/CLAWS/FANGS)
MAGICALLY ENHANCED SENSES (SUPER SENSES)
DETERMINED (WILLPOWER)
Well done. Tracking is tricky in this game. As much as terrain is significant, tracking is still a sticky wicket in the game's mechanics, generally relegated to plasticity and/or move&attack. I appreciate the control the player gets to exert on whom to hunt and the hot potato token allowing you to add on lots of little effects with all the "chosen character" language baggage is most helpful. I like how subdued the free movement is, but he potentially lets a lot of folks join his journey. Burried blades makes for nasty surprises and good call on using ss defensively
Btw I'm all for them getting asgardian kw if there's a unifying mechanic somewhere in here specifically for berserkers to make the kw functional and not superfluous

My Gift Is All Knowledge: Opposing Players may not look at the side of characters' cards that has the dial printed on it. // Loremaster and adjacent friendly characters have PROTECTED: Ouwit.
You Sacrificed Yourself For Me: Adjacent friendly characters can use Mastermind but must choose Loremaster.
QUIET SAM (STEALTH)
KNOWLEDGE AS YOUR SHIELD (DEFEND)
AS LONG AS I GOT MY BOOKS (PERPLEX)
not given me a break tonight, eh? just keep cranking out good dials, making the rest of us look lazy?
hooded cloaks are all the rage with these guys, and i don't blame them, it's a good look, though sam looks much more clerical with his than the dashing rogue that nick cuts. it's the tunic what does him in, but what do you expect from a guy who's a gm, right?
first thing that strikes me about this dial though is that his sp has a typo, i think it's supposed to say "my gift is telling you to suck an egg cause there's no peeksies!" the one advantage to the terrible horrible no good very bad rule of VD is that at least we can mechanically play with turning back the clock on it and a little obfuscation of information is ironically the best way in this era to affect having information.
even in the hands of a gentleman's match that would render the sp moot (well, the first bit of it, outwit protection is always gonna sing), this guy's an absolute STEAL for 30. the perplex and defend are all the reason i need to spend 30 points on him. and the end dial departure is really just spoiling me
