I think the huge prejudice against players of other games... disturbing.
I don't like stereotyping players because the game scene for the games is not fun for me or because I have seen cases of people being douches. :/
Let's not make Clix known for having "intolerant, arrogant players that think people who play other games are inferior" (I'm not saying anyone here is like this, but don't let it escalate to this level).
That said, I don't think YGO universe is at all compatible with HeroClix. Characters barely have specific powers (monsters basically have attack and defense values, sometimes a single special ability; players mostly have few powers except "having cards/playing games). It is more like a "sports/game anime" or a "monster battles game", nothing super-heroic conceptually either. Terrible addition.
I think the cardgame itself had somewhat interesting rules, but the cards were mostly goofy or terribly generic. From the little I have seen the anime was childish (that's not necessarily bad, but not something I like) and had some really ridiculous ideas - and mostly, was just a huge advertisement for their game (not that Marvel/DC didn't do that... Secret Wars?). I would not be interested in this even for a standalone release. And now, even more weird stuff making the game less and less thematic...
Well... There is no denying that when a magic the gathering tournament begins, the 40 year old man-boys in their parents basement come out... And they come out smelling like BO in the worst way... I have been there... I have seen and smelled it.

I would normally be perturbed by such discrimination as well, however, in this case the instances are more than a few smattering of personal experience and it seems, as a whole, the Yu-Gi crowd is the worst group of gamers. I've played a lot of games, and been in a lot of game stores, and feel pretty confident in my statements.
Personally, I've caught Yu-Gi players trying to steal clix from a friend as we were playing, simply because the pieces "looked cool". The general noise/stench that seems to emanate from the Yu-Gi crowd seems to be universal as well. Not saying ALL the players are bad, but a large enough majority that other gamers notice (which is pretty bad).
HERETIC
(not for hating Yu Gi Oh but for comparing this crap with my beloved DBZ)
Beloved... DBZ? There are far better animes out there... I should know, I have completed nearly 60 series on DVD. The problem with the original DBZ was the slow moving episodes with long pointless self reflection dialogue that served no purpose. The best series are also much shorter. Bleach started out well enough, but they found ways of making that drag too... And then have more arcs when the first one was fine when it concluded. My favorite animes are: chobits, ergo proxy, and "X". Samurai champloo is also great... Much better than dbz
I think this is great for Wizkids in that it helps them tap the 12+ age market that they have been trying to tap since the early days of Heroclix. More licenses like this will help them reach that market.
What makes me sad about it is that it gets a full set and a starter while other licenses just get a 24 figure or less GF set.
Before long the number of non-comic Heroclix figures will outnumber the comic Heroclix figures. Maybe then they will all be released as modern age.
You know, people are down on Yugioh, but I urge you guys to check out the pre-card game comics.
Before it turned into a card game, Yugioh was just a manga about a possessed kid who was good at ALL kinds of games. There were even issues where he played Heroclix-like games. Basically, every issue Yugi would end up playing some kind of game against a douche and defeat (and sometimes kill) his opponent using the rules of the game. He played tabletop games, dice, card games, games of chance, ect. I actually really liked it.
Then the card game that appeared in one of the stories was turned into a real game and everything got a little silly...
Oh he will, the question is if he will have the TA. The first Gandalf did not have it though he had the keyword, but all of them in the Hobbit set have had them.
Spellcaster keyword will be nice too.
I suppose that Spell Equip Card will be like Feats but right now i can't figure how the Traps would work.
Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game played by 40-something neckbeards where they use their superior wallet size and adult brains to crush the souls of sub-11 year olds using cards.
(This is my observation from being at other card tournaments where Yu-Gi-Oh tourneys were also being held. It's not based on prejudice. I literally saw the same 40-something guy just terminating on the same 10 year old 3 different tourneys.)
And this is different from Heroclix how?

Actually, it was originally about a character who is good at all games. (Hence the title "King of Games" which is what Yugi-Oh translates as.) He'd play people at a variety of different games, and when they'd lose, they'd die (or be sent to the shadow realm). Then, the card game showed up and took over.

They have two options (they'll probably use both). (1) They can make the monsters from the cards into clix characters. (2) They can make the kids who play card games into clix characters, though most of them wouldn't have much they can do (but Batman has no powers either, so they could get anything). When Yugi's possessed by the pharaoh, he might have crazy powers since he can send you to the shadow realm if you lose a game to him.

There are stereotypes and then there's personal experience.
Have we gone so far down the PC road to nowhere that people can't live their lives, have experiences, and make connections? Are other people not allowed to benefit from their warnings? Do you think psych profiling is all bull?
I don't dislike the lion's share of You-Go-Blow! players that I meet because the game they play is convoluted and poorly made, I just don't like most of the players that I meet. It's simple.
If a kid shows up at Clix next week wearing a You-Go-Blow! shirt and he asks about Clix, I'm not going to tell him to go away. But I also won't expect for him to actually start playing the game or truly be interested.
If he turns out to be a decent guy, I'm also not going to hold the fact that he played/plays another game against him.
SWEET! I love new stuff. I watched this show so I know what it has to offer as far as characters. I think they'll make just the monsters so we should be good. Lol, I know there are people in my area who don't like other stuff. I will enjoy owning them with this stuff. Blue eyes white dragon should be a giant with 8 range, and just destroys stuff.
