Last we heard they were looking into it, with some thought of making the switch later in the year. Maybe with Superman?

With Supes coming out in September I'm still half expecting them to squeeze one more expansion in before the end of the year. Aside from when the original company was shut down, have we ever had a November/December where a new expansion wasn't hitting?

X-men were originally supposed to be the set that had these dials. Then they said the cap set would. However, a lot of the pictures used in the previews are paint masters and aren't on the final bases.

While they mounted some preview figs on them a while back for display purposes, as you note, I don't recall them saying the new bases (Champion/oreo) would be around any sooner than near the end of the year. The mention was that they were more expensive than the ones they're currently using, so they had to figure out how to make it work.

While it may not be indicative of anything, I will note that the case price for Superman from the same vendor I've been placing my orders with was $5 higher than Cap or GSX had been.

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't something in the works, whether it be a full set or another gravity feed/mini set, but to be honest, I wouldn't mind a break in that timeframe as the holidays take their toll on my wallet and my sanity.

I'm hoping so. I'm actually a bit excited to see these in action.

Regardless of Suga's intent, I call shenanigans on that. I've played against Nightcrawler what, twenty times? Thirty? And how much damage have I seen him take? One. From a push, which he immediately healed out of. I've used Poison, high attack, Stealth hate, and Mystics and I've managed to get a single click of damage out of him. It's a matter of "have magic dice" or "dedicate 300+ points of sustained effort and multiple turns to maybe damage him, then lose to the rest of his team". People keep insisting that he's balanced, but after extensively playing against him I respectfully disagree...

Notice how I said "don't make me start" but then I started anyway? And also that I've said all this before and I know it isn't going anywhere? Stupid elf, makin' me look bad...

That third one is classic for me. I love comic book easter eggs, like the ones on this site.
