What was the 'human' name of the original Swamp Thing (by which I mean the character who debuted first, not who was first continuity-wise)?

Woodrue's an interesting choice as he did have connection to the Green for a short time, but I was thinking of someone whose origin was explianed later in the series as a failed attempt to create a new Swamp Thing (hint: the element of fire was missing from the 'standard' Swamp Thing creation myth).

For the bonus question, I believe it was Solomon Grundy.

Solomon Grundy is correct. It came out of the Veitch run (#67), when he had the 'Sprout' looking for a possible host. In one issue, it tried to "reclaim" Grundy, revealing that a new Swamp Thing was supposed to have risen out of Slaughter Swamp, but something went wrong and they got Grundy instead. By the end of the issue Grundy manages to shake the sprout off and it heads off looking for a more suitable host.

I didn't like a lot of what Veitch did on his run (controversy over the infamous end aside, I just didn't dig the storytelling), but some of his individual issues were great and I really liked this one.

How did Streaky get super-powers?

Exposure to X-Kryptonite.

I didn't know that Supergirl had made it. I thought it was just a random variety. In fact, I think the only reason I knew about it becuase it gets listed whenever there's a list of types of Kryptonite.
