have my Grandad's WWII dress uniform, damned if he didn't have Ultimates TA.
Seriously, everyone should "play to win" Heroclix, that insures all players have a challenging, FUN experience.
While you do this, exhibit some damn common courtesy to each other, particulary to new players. Dig?
True. But I'd still rather watch any of them then any "nice guy" athlete that wins nothing. Give me greatness - I could care less about your indiscretions.
This is in terms of iconic athletes playing sports though. Not a bunch of cheeto palm, neckbearded, overweight, comic reading, non-laid getting, nerds sitting around a table rolling dice and threatening to fight each other over message boards. Then I think we should all just get along.
All the Sun Tzu comments for a game with about little plastic men is funny , I have found that the ultra competitve comparing heroclix to professional sports win at all costs and pout and temper tantrum when they lose are usually:
1. Living at home with their parents
and/or
2. Unemployed or making around minimum wage
and/or
3. Had limited to no interaction with women or deodorant
I qualify for two of those, and a hint being not number 3 (college can do that to you for 1 and 2)
That all being said I consider myself competitive, probably on the overly competitive side, I think the major issue at hand is players who cannot acknowledge that they are overly competitive. So what do I do about it? I try to make mini goals when I play like for example, if I play a dude running power houses, I make it a goal to take down at least one, morale victory, on the other side of the fence against someone who beats me if I feel my emotions got the best of me and it is showing IE: my tone of voice or what not I usually apologize and try to lighten up, difference is in my case, at least I try. I can tell you I've been on the other side as well where my team, though not cheese to me, seemed to cheese the other guys and I've pointed out what they did do well and that had a couple of rolls went in their favor something different would have happened. Nothing is gained by rubbing stuff in someone else's face (unless you don't like them, then it is just personal).
As another, and final example as I end my rant that I imagine no one bothered to read, I played a bunch of Batman related characters the other day, my highest point figure being Batman and Robin duo (138 pts?) and almost my whole team was based by Black Atom, on top of that they stole Batman TA with Cypher so I had nothing I could range at. So what happened? Player 1 nickled a couple of my lower point figures, player 2 got a couple of turns of Maggog killing one figure and rolling into another. Immediately after the guy did it he gets super excited and proceeds to rant about how awesome it is and blah blah about stomping my stuff, I try to shrug it off, then I see him at Wal-Mart, what does he say "Oh getting a Maggog now after you saw how he stomped your team?" Really? I mean, -really? It was a bunch of Batman figures (Robin etc etc) and only one was over 100pts, all of them were softened to nearly dead anyways, I was not shocked they were KOed (which usually happens when I use them anyways) but why gloat about it? I could have whipped out my 400pt Horsemen team, or a cheesy Nightcrawler team, etc etc, why continue to rub it in my face, stuff like that, gets old.
I would just sleep with his mom. Even if she's fat and ugly, do it anyway. Guys really hate it when you bang their moms. You could also do the dad if you're into that sort of thing.
You ain't kiddin' anyone, Wade. You'd strip for a couple of In-N-Out burgers, some fries, and a large coke.
I do not like In-n-Out burgers, I would not like them at a clix game, I would not like them with some fries and a large coke. I do not like In-n-out burgers. I do not like them spike1138

i'm sorry i'm so had it with these type of post!!! its a tournament. he's doing nothing wrong. you don't like or anyone else who doesn't. then you stay at home & play friendly games with your friend's. & stop ruining this guys fun. it is a tournament! therefore it is game seven. no one from magic, omg no one from a pokimon tournament cries as much as heroclix's players. about someone paying to win in a tournament! & then you all make post!! i wonder why i can't get more people to turn out at our heroclix tournaments. this is why! people come to tournament's 2 play the best players & win. not to have FUN O_O! there i said what had 2 b said! they want fun thet stay at home!
You should speak only for yourself. We have a large community of players around twenty. They seem to all play for the fun of it. Even while losing a log of our players are good spirited and smiling. I sure as hell dont go to win every week. I like the competition but the community and friendship is much more highly desired than some win in a tourney that means nothing to to nobody in the terms of important life achievements. Will your tombstone state "Here lies a good heroclix player, He played to win!"
Nice job whining about people whinging though. Really gets your point across.
Other side of the coin. At my venue they actually call me NPE( negative play experience). I just try really hard to not make mistakes. We do fun events all the time. But no matter what I do, people always think there is some sort of douchebaggery at hand. Example: our last tourney was a leadership type thingy where you could only play 1 named character. I played 6 Moloids and a War-Hulk... thats fun right? I even lost to amazons. Everyone still said about how I do not build "fun" teams. Maybe the dude at hand did not know how everyone feels about him. Be honest... not the angry kind of honest. He might try and comply.... I am. Having friends to play with is better than having a cool looking collection covered in dust.

You're forgetting to mention that you play without wearing any pants. That could be seen as a negative play experience. It wouldn't be at my venue though. Wearing no pants is a positive experience in my book
