First off was referrig to the non-myth, that the average huma only uses ten percent of their brain at any given time. Using 100% of your brain (neural pathways, etc.) would short us out quickly.
You read too many comic books. :) "Shorting out your brain" is a comic book idea if I've ever heard one. :p
I know it's off topic, but I just have to point out that "10% at one time" is still just a variant of the 10% myth, and still completely wrong.
About 80% of your brain controls subconscious/autonomic processes, a bunch of which are active at any given time. Saying 50% of your brain is active at a time would be much closer. (but to be honest, it varies wildly.)
The only thing you can accurately state about 10% is that it's nowhere near the truth.
I think what he means is 10% being consiously used. like your heartbeat, that isn't being used consciously, but typing, that is a conscious act. but yes, most of our brain is in use.
The reason that the 10% myth is so prevalent is that Deathstroke keeps killing people that refute it, so that his "I use 90% of my brain" power remains intimidating to his enemies.
I bet he would have solved the riddle by now... with violence! :-(
*goes back to trying to put all of the pieces together*
As of 1:05PM, I have correctly received TWO solutions. (They have been contacted)
People who have used their "One Question":
i3ullseye, Pi_3.14159..., ChronicleBowski, Daemyann, LifeMage, Pez Halo, Sepharoth, BrokenByMe, JediMario, Who Dat?, HankMcCoy, TwanBon
I would like to thank all of those who entered, submitted solution after solution, and tried their hardest. But in the end, there can only be three winners, and those winners are (in order of solving the puzzle):
Sepharoth007
TwanBon
Who Dat?
I will be contacting these member later today, and posting a link to a solution later this week (so you can view it if you want, or ignore it if you don't want).
Onceagain, thanks all for playing, and I look forward to seeing you all again for my next riddle.
PS - Stick around this thread, I will be doing a "montage/highlights" of peoples guesses, questions, etc, for everyone to see how everyone else had come along.
I can't wait for the next one, I definitely want to participate. I love things like this, and Flashback81 is a gentleman and a scholar for putting it together for everyone.
congrats fellas. i've got to second dschneider's sentiments. Flashback, you're the man. I'm anxious to see this solution, post that link sooner than later :)
finally I can gloat.... but I won't. I will say however that I had an awesome time solving the riddle and playing dumb for a week and a half. good job Flash, on the whole thing, and I look forward to the next riddle. the one thing I will say, in a bit of a gloatish way is that I am getting the playmat with this attached, if you remember in the earlier riddle thread I promised if I won the playmat I would do this.
