Would have rather seen a different colossal figure that deserved and needed the dial space and sculpt size and gotten these guys as giants stuffed in regular boosters with two different paint jobs.
Maybe I will change my mind in time, and it looks like a very well-sculpted and painted piece, but I am not thinking right now that if I open this booster that I will be thinking that I got a $24.00 figure for Heroclix.
Artistry only counts for so much. It would have been nice to get a character that is actually important in the comics. One that has a history. One that has been central to stories. A character that you see on the cover a comic that you do not normally read that makes you decide to grab it that month.
Sorry, I do not think that anyone would grab a comic that they do not normally read because the cover shows the character fighting a frost giant.
Generic mooks that Thor beats up in multiples as an aside to the main story are not things that fill me with awe and wonder, and running a 600 point generic frost giant team shouldn't cost $144.00 at MSRP.
I understand your perspective. But you can't tell me that a picture of a baddass looking monster crushing someone on a cover of a comic wouldn't grab attention. I know itsd grab mine. But with your logic fielding a sentianl army is going to cost the same, but that's okay?
No its an experiment. Probaly wont be in DC for Superman or Cap till they see how they are received. I think the only thing is people are going what is a Thor fig doing in a GSX men set

Me personally, I am thrilled for the Frost Giant. I love me some Thor and I am super psyched to have some of these guys to throw out on an Asgardian baddie team.

Speed - Dust of Enchanted Stone: Frost Giant can use Incapacitate as if he had a range value of 8 and . Attack - Spear Throw: Once per game, Frost Giant can modify his attack and damage values by +3, and then make a ranged combat attack as if he had a range value of 10. Damage - Illusionary Might: Frost Giant can use perplex only to modify an atttack, defense, or damage value by +2 or -2.When the target of his Perplex attacks or becomes the target of an attack, before the attack roll, you roll a d6. On a roll of 1-3, the effect from this Perplex ends immediately.
To be honest.. I doubt it could be over say.. three SRs per brick now because of the fact that there are only 8 boosters.. If you go over that (which will happen on some bricks don't get me wrong) it will be half of the bricks have SRs which is just kinda ridiculous.
if you take the that the placement of the Chase duo has to take a place of a rare, then it is even more apt to being closer to the 3 SR per brick level because of the fact that that would make the most sense to get at least 4 Rare boosters per brick.
And I say again.. the X-Men have been to Asgard and fought Frost Giants in the past.. don't say it doesn't belong.. because it fits just as well as the Next Wave people do..
Just because you're not familiar with the comic accuracy doesn't mean it isn't there..

That's Dr. Smart-@$$, thank you, I didn't spend eight years in insult college to be called Mister.
Oh I agree I just am saying what people are saying. Too bad we couldn't get a new Moonstar

Elixir has toughness and provides an aoe heal...how is he 'vulnerable' to energy explosion? I also don't see how picking up stealth and regen makes him more vulnerable to ranged attacks in general...
he has 5 clicks of life...all with one damage.... stealth, regen, and poison on two last clicks out of 5 not enough to save him from being outwitted, being attacked by long ranged and close combatted....low defense...his special power - if want to use that power - he will "force" the group to come adj to him, which will lead to an energy explosion attack...not good. Especially with those seasoned players. So if I pull him at the sealed tournament, he won't be on the field. Will you, if you pull him, put on your team?
if he starts stealth on the first click, then the outcome would be much different.
I just can't get into X-Factor.. I read the original.. the "Government" sponsored team with Havok.. but for some reason I just can't get into the detective agency thing.. just don't particularly care about any of the characters.. plus the Shatterstar/Rictor "romance" just seems stupid..
The quotation marks in your post confuse me. Without them, it reads perfectly normally. But the quotes around "government" and "romance" puzzle me, because it seems to indicate that those things are not in fact, those things.

I do agree that for sealed play the Elixir figure is garbage (I didn't notice the emphasis on sealed in your post until I was proofreading my reply ><.) I'm not playing a 50 point healer in a low point game. This figure is not the 'no brainer' 10 point healer that you include because you would be short on points. The set is jam packed full of damage reducers so this figure would be completely shut off when based by half the set. The figure is so bad under those conditions I'd probably leave it alone while I killed off the rest of the team.
I do think Elixir will be the medic of choice for high point xmen swarm teams. The ability to gang xmen heal a single fig and then heal off all the resulting single clicks of damage in one go will be excellent. With the new Cyclops you are going to see a lot of adjacent Xmen before you factor in Elixir. Swarm teams (particularly involving cucko and/or multiple man) end up adjacent a great deal due to available space especially on certain maps.
I think not fielding this figure because the opposing team might have multiple target energy explosion is a lot like not fielding any beatstick because the opponent might be playing Atrocitus. Unless you let everyone know what your team is going to be, they are more likely to build around the ability to take out an opposing HSS beatstick than your swarm. As 'vulnerable' as a swarm is to aoe ranged attacks they are also quite capable of sending up a figure to base the ranged figure to nullify ranged attacks.
And second: Was there any validity to the rumor of the original Horsemen of Apocalypse being steed-mounted double based pieces in the set, or is that still up in the air?
