There appears to be some game effect in play that slightly delays results. If a townperson is behind this effect, and uses it to target, then they likely targeted a killer Night 1, and that is why Dean's death was a day event.

Lots of hunches and speculation in that idea, but I just got results for the night after being told I had no results when the phase opened.
