My posts are just rays of sunshine lately. I'm making Wade look like a positive dude lately.
Good- Kids slept all night, no one got sick
Bad- Jeb gave up today, and my wife and I took him to the vet to be put to sleep. He could barely get around, had no appetite, and liver failure was just starting to set in, but it still was ungodly ####ing sad. I wasn't just tearing up a little...I flat out cried in front of our vet and her assistant, while Angila was pretty cool and collected. Jeb was the best dog, and probably the closest companion, I've ever had. He was just that good of a dog. The cool thing was that last night, as I was going through my comic to pick a couple to read before bed around midnight, Jeb wanted to get up into our bed. I had to pick him up for him to make it, but he stayed there all night. Jokes aside, it was kinda telling that he wanted to sleep in our bed like the old days. Sad day around the Hoffman house, let me tell ya.
Doggo deaths are the worst. I still vividly remember losing our beagles several years ago. My condolences, for what it's worth.
Yep, it's getting better now, but he was definitely "my" dog, even though he started out as my girlfriend's dog. For those of you that weren't on here or don't recall, when I first joined the Realms and started posting, I was dealing with some life changing back pain and surgery. I spent easily my first 3 years back from Active duty only working part-time at best, living with Jeb and my girlfriend in a small house in Bay City, MI. We were constant companions, except for temporary assignments when I would leave for a couple weeks or whatever.
Jeb loved heroclix nights, since several folks would be over until midnight or later, he always went to the garage or basement with me when I had work to do, or was putzing around on a model or some car repair, etc. Lots of hikes at the state park, many days working at our comic book shop, and even a few days when I started drilling at the local reserve center.
One of the nice things about the extra free time was that my girlfriend/later wife and I trained Jeb and even took him to a few doggy discipline classes. So of course he is more mature and trustworthy than our later 2 dogs, but still, he was a cool ass dog.
Plus he was big enough that if we were ever caught in a blizzard, I could've used him like a taun-taun to survive.
Anyway, enough morose stuff. Play MOAR BETTER!! Watch list is for pussies that can't beat good peeples! Goblin King with a possessor and a #### load of ID card call-ins is cool!! Yeah!
You're about 700 posts short to try to win this thread in memory of your dog. By that time months have passed and we may not remember. Don't pull a Brett Favre and start killing off loved ones so there is a sad backstory to your triumphs.
