In the late 70's there were some British new wave artists that completely dominated, The Clash (Joe Strummer), Elvis Costello, and Joe Jackson. I prefer Joe Jackson, but that's like saying I caught a trout.
I can understand from an artists point of view, that it may get tedious and boring to play the same song over and over. However, when the song is classic, you play it the way you wrote it to make the audience happy. This was just....weird.

I don't consider him new wave but his song fits for today. Tony Levin playing a Chapman Stick during this song. Paula Cole is his backup singer, I don't remember if you see her or not.
It's funny, I watch Peter Gabriel do this stuff, and I think "he's so pretentious". Then I watch Maynard do similar stuff, and I think, "he's so creative".

They both put the art in art-rock. I have never seen Tool live so I don't know what Maynard does, I hear he just kind of stays in one place or stands toward the back. He apparently has a successful winery.
After going to all of those conventions have you ever played on a Chapman Stick?
2 more for the S let's make them two ends of the progressive spectrum
Subdivisions - Rush https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYYdQB0mkEU
IMO Neil Peart's masterpiece. His drumming is utterly amazing being able to switch seamlessly between time signatures without making the music sound pretentious (like Dream Theater). The lyrics he wrote are so clever playing on the different interpretations of the word subdivisions. I only wish that when I was a teenager I was able to understand the lyrics better because of how I could relate to the song back then.
Spirit Crusher - Death https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJO6JqBSk74
OK, I get it, you may not like the vocals, I didn't at first either. What I admire most about this song is the importance of a great drummer. During the pre-chorus when the drummer (Richard Christy) increases the tempo and makes the song seem so much faster and intense during the 1:00 - 1:20 mark. When I first heard this song my teenage mind was blown. Sadly I missed them on the tour supporting this album, which was their last tour ever.

Bruno Mars just writes fun songs. He's so talented.
100%
I feel like his half time performance at the Superbowl XLVIII was HOF worthy. I especially liked the Give It Away Now / Sweet Leaf (Black Sabbath) medley with RHCP.
Wishing for competitive Judge Dredd figures for Modern Age...WizKids are you listening?!?!
Out of curiosity do you use your phone or tablet when you are on this site? I find using either device annoying when it comes to posting links.
Usually on phone. But that doesn’t negate sorriness nor stupidity factor. Or keeping an eye out for my stupid 24 year old stuporvisor since I’m most always at work.

The last time Tool played in Reading, Maynard hid behind a giant white piece of fabric with a light on behind him that made a giant silhouette. My opinion on Tool is, they rhyme with stool and not by coincidence. Yes, I know my opinion is in the minority, but "F" Tool, thus ends my scat chat.

I somewhat agree with you. I thought they were overhyped considering how many albums they released and the quality of all songs on an album. That's OK I don't have to like every band. A cousin of mine loves Ninja Sex Party, I don't get what's so special about them. Maybe I'm old and jaded.

I remember him doing that for A Perfect Circle, but not for Tool. Also, for the time I saw them, it wasn't the whole concert, it was the first 3rd. It was weird at first, but then after awhile it was...ok, this is how it's going to be. It's different, but not bad. Then the curtain dropped, and the light show got crazier. It made me think of a Tarantino movie where he shows the opening credits half-way through the film.
I can understand not liking a band, and as a teenager I can understand hating a band, but as an adult I don't understand how another adult can hate a band based just on their music. Did they punch your dog?
Checking back in, and also not so slyly editing a couple earlier weird autotyping mistakes from previous posts. Didn't we just talk about how it sucks posting from phone on here.
One of my favorite Beastie Boys songs. It's usually this or Root Down that I claim for that spot.

A great ELO song. Has their sound stamped all over it.

I think you showed this to us earlier. I still like it.

My band covers this song! Also, it's the Cult. Love it.
I recently purchased "Electric Peace", which has the original Electric album, and the version of the album that was made under the Love producer (not Rick Rubin). I think some of the songs are better, some are worse, and some are just different. It's definitely worth a listen/purchase for a Cult fan.

One of my favorite Eagles songs. I didn't realize it was a cover. I don't think I want to listen to the original.
My band covers this song! It's one of the songs I like to show off while I play, because I don't need to look at the fretboard as I'm playing it. Super slinky and all over the place.

As I've probably said before, Stevie Nicks is my favorite singer of all time. I'll listen to almost anything with her voice.
Savia - Soen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VEFORk1wYA
Martin Lopez left Opeth and then came out with this band, Soen. People say they are like Tool. Well they are because Martin Lopez and Danny Carey are awesome drummers!!!!!! Sometimes I think Tool fans are upset about all of these bands that are "tool knockoffs" because they can put out an album every few years. This was Soen's first single.
Spiders and Flies - Dead Soul Tribe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRSMXvo1NSI
Tower Records was going out of business this band's album was on the Inside Out label. I was not disappointed. I know nothing else about this band, weird, huh?

I'm currently in the middle of watching Community. I saw this scene a few days ago. I am finding myself watching it over and over. It's just brilliant.
I think what I am most curious about is when using the same tackle whether you would get a better cast (distance) from a mini pole or a regular fishing pole.
Is the 4 hour drive for the best fishing spot or closest?

For me it usually that there is a body to dump, too, and you don’t want to do that too close to home.
