Tim had become Batman, and Robin was Bruce Jr., son of Bruce and his wife Selina.
Of course, Tim and BJ couldn't handle the Joker when he showed up and Joker demanded Bruce come out or else he would shoot BJ every 5 minutes. It only took Bruce 10 minutes to get there, but by then Junior had a bullet in each kneecap. Great story.

The original Nightwing and Flamebird were Kal-El and Jimmy Olsen, later replaced by Van-Zee and Ak-Var. Both teams protected the bottle city of Kandor. Van-Zee and Ak-Var presumably continued to protect Kandor after it was enlarged and deposited on the phase world of Rokyn.
