Make sure to have the probability control (or theme prob)
Make sure to have perplex, outwit and support and especially move and attack
also, take out opposing figures one by one concentrating fire, there is nothing worse than losing against a bunch of people who are almost dead
Honestly I haven't all of these, so I don't know if someone already has posted something like this, bit ya lol
Generally always build a Ranged Attacking Strategy when making yourself a Team. Its always better to stay at a distance. Generally choose Clix that have a flexible habit of being Close Combat Good and Ranged Combat Good...
Oh and some friendly advice: if you can fit Impossible Man from Secret Invasion on your Team, DO IT lol...seriously, a friend suggested this guy to me and he has never failed me...
I've only been playing a few months and these are all really helpful. I am having a little trouble with the acronyms, is there anywhere that has a list possibly.
I have to say that I'm new to HC and this has been a huge help for me to understand the little details of this game. I'm so excited about this. Looking forward to facing off against my friends and using some of these tips to destroy them. PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!!!
Format-no one man armies, you will only get 1 attack per round and no support. So use ~45% of your points on a big heavy hitter. Then use some secondary attackers to keep the enemies under fire. Finally use support with the remaining points to make sure the heavy hitters hit the target.
Be prepared for anything. You never now what you will face. So be prepared for anything from stealth teams to teams made entirely of CCombat. So if you do a range team. Be prepared for a batman team or a team of CCE.
Know your dial. If you are playing know your dial of your opponents as well. Try and et opponents on their weakest click. AlsO so you know when to push
Energy explosion is great. Be able to deal well with those pesky support pieces and medics behind the big guys. Unless of course you have sharpshooter.
First Blood can change the course of the game. Use taxis TKers, and HSS to get in there first and hit the big guy and decrease him in strength so you can take less damage
Concentrate fire- would you rather fight 6 nearly full characters or 5 full characters. Kill one before moving on.
Always push when you can deal more damage then you would take.
Use objects strategically. Place an object just reachable by your stealth snipers as a deployable hindering and a defense bonus for all your big hitters.
Good support pieces.
GG GF doctor strange-ESD for all friendly adjacent. Perplex, Energy explosin for pesky medics and prob and support later with P/PB and incapacitate for slowing down the opposing heavy hitters
GSX Cypher-copy mystics or superman enemy for outwit or protection from darkseid or batman for stealth or ultimates for anti stealth. The options are endless
Haha, some of that older advice about making sure you have 2 figs for every 100 points of the build that was from like 2003 is hilarious now. I can't imagine building a viable team with the pieces and their point values now of 10 figures in a 500 point game. Averaging 50 points a character is just a no-no now a days.

I know right. Most good srs are either support pieces or heavy hitter150-250 points. No secondary attackers

This and just so much more as well. I built a scientist team with Modok, Red Skull (the uncommon from the new Avengers Movie Set), SR Baron Strucker, and Scientist Supreme, and 2 more pieces at like 59 and 34 points each, and only added the gauntlet with 2 gems and 1 10 point feat to make it exactly 600 points and themed all scientists (need to average 1 for every 100 points for generic, argh!), and even if I hadn't used the gauntlet or feats it would've still been a 'Radio Edit' to build a competitive team if I hadn't used the BFC Atlantis Rising and basically turtled around while my opponent on an all beast theme team but only had 5 (making it a theme but not themed) so he couldn't cancel my BFC of making all clear ground terrain water terrain. I was able to stall long enough basically for Red Skull to build his weapon (special power, after 7 turns of giving someone an action token each turn he gets +2 to combat abilities and flight, making him insane), and then that made half my team flying half not so I could carry and get enhancements from the Hydra TA after turtling long enough to be in a position exactly how I wanted when they arrived.
But no other team but a scientist team built around trying to like get something weird done like that with a crappy to play against BFC could even average 100 points in a modern game very easily, except with soldier or scientist generic keywords, which have to be carefully crafted and played teams.
Never, ever, use less than the maximum point build allowed. Not only are you giving your opponent a head start, you're putting all the pressure to be aggressive on yourself.
Also: always have a way to deal with Invulnerability; Stealth; Outwit; and Firelord.
i love this post. It's super old obv, but that is why it's great. BEWARE FIRELORD!
I'd use cave carson for red skulls doomsday weapon because he has willpower.

Being a play at home guy since Infinity Challenge I had a lot of adjusting to do . Team abilities !! I forgot to take full advantage of TA's in tourny setting . Also being mostly a home player I was used to playing 600 to 10000 games .
Infinity Gauntlet was my first intro to tournies and building a 300 point team with synergy took a while to get used to . Always found my 300 pt team builds were missing a power needed to really help team work cohesively .
Practice building 300 and 400 point teams . Practice building themed teams , I've been collecting ten years but entering this tourney has made me think a lot harder when building those teams .
Don't just copy winning teams . Sometimes playing something everyone else isn't gives you advantage because they don't know what that character does .
Play test your team at least once before the tourney . (THIS HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST HELP FOR ME ) It gives you a chance to see how you're team works together .
Become friends with the top three winners , don't be scared to ask them for tips . Most of these guys are more than happy to help you (especially after tourney is over and they have prize piece in hand lol)

"Heroclix Players Around the World" Face book page is a great way to get a answer to a rule or scenario question . Hope this helped .
send your medic to the middle and have him attack like crazy
make sure you push your medic every possible chance you can
never prob anything, it's a gentlemen's rule to let chance handle the game
outwit is for women and canadians, dont use it
always charge opposing characters with 19 defense or higher
don't use your combat powers, you look cooler when you fight like a man

great advice...............................i'll be sure to give this a go in my next tourney. lol
but really, my basic advice is about map choice. if new to the game, try to stick with more open maps, this will help make things less confusing when your opponent starts making everything around you hindering terrain.
Seeing as we have a lot of new players now. (Including me) maybe it's time for a new sticky? Where everyone can start posting basic strategies about the newer rules and not have to search through pages and pages of old stuff. Just an idea.
