I have a soft spot for the Serpent Society, but they are a little more obscure than the Hellfire Club. But, if they're trying to put new teams in each set, they may be holding onto the HCF for the next set.

I totally agree. I might have been a little miffed at the Morlocks being included before, when I thought that Marvel might only get these 4 new TAs. But with Boneyard's new Marvel rumor thread hinting that the next expansion will get 2 more, I am much more relaxed. After all, I don't care if they include a Hostess Fruit Pie team ability as long as they leave room open for all the good TAs to be done.
Even I have to say I would rather have a Hellfire club then Ultimate Xmen TA. But someone out there has to like Ultimate Xmen! Its not always about what we want!
See I like Ultimate X-Men the book, but I still don't think they should have gotten a team ability. X-men works for them. I'd rather have seen that team ability on Heroes for Hire myself. Fits them more than the Mutan Kids.

Not bad, but they better all be cheap, otherwise you're gonna have to run big games to make it work good. I am happy that Taskmaster Sandman and Spiral just got a whole lot meaner...
In this example, all friendly figures would get the +4, or capped at +3 from Rule of 3. The reason is that the attacking figure gets a +1 bonus for each friendly adjacent to itself AND the target!!! A friendly figure doesn't have to be in contact with the attacking character. A small nitpick, but an important one. Without the Rule of 3, this could concievably give a +10 bonus on a stardard target figure. If the Rule of 3 was not around, Galactus could be hit easily by a gang of 20 Morlocks!!! Hmmm
Morlocks: When it makes a close combat attack, a member of this team gets +1 to its attack value for each friendly character that is both adjacent to this team member and the target character.
The friendly figures do have to be adjacent to the attacker and to the target of the Morlocks attack. Also the target doesn't give a +1 to the Morlock only the friendly figures.

I actually think you took the exact opposite meaning of what the word AND means in this situation.
If the ability said "+1 to attack for each friendly figure adjacent to itself OR the target" then the bonus would work as you have laid it out... but the word AND in the above means that to grant the attack bonus the friendly figure must be adjacent to the attacker AND also adjacent to the target.

Ultimates: Members of this team ignore the effects of hindering terrain on movement, combat, and powers and team abilities
Sadly, you are mistaken, mein freund. Please re-read the quote, but break it up into it's component parts and you will see....
Members of this team ignore the effects of hindering terrain on movement.
Members of this team ignore the effects of hindering terrain on combat.
Members of this team ignore the effects of hindering terrain on Powers.
Members of this team ignore the effects of hindering terrain on team abilities.
You seem to be under the impression that the Kingdom Come team ability has something to do with hindering terrain. It doesn't. Ergo, this new Ultimates team ability will do nothing for the roll needed to base a KC team member... they will merely ignore any hindering terrain effects in an attempt to base them, nothing more.
In general, all I can say about this new set is that I hope they take the time to address some previous errors... i.e., Ultimate Hawkeye needs at least an 11 AV. "Ultimate Hulk Need Impervious!! Argh!" Ultimate Toad needs to not s-uck. Ultimate Rogue doesn't fly. Ultimate Magneto needs to be a maaaajor player, on a Superman or Amazo level, points-wise. Ultimate Quicksilver needs Hypersonic Speed. And will there be more Green Goblins? (I know, we already have one from the Xplosion set, but it's out of print, and we're getting a new Ultimate Spidey... fair is fair, after all.) A lycanthrope Kraven? Dare I say... an Electro?? And, ohgodplease, a Kingpin figure that has some decent level of combat ability and perhaps Mastermind!! And I like the idea of a Bat Sentry-sized Giant Man... I don't think fans would mind that in the least, taking up two spaces to get a semi-large figure. And it would be a good way of doing others, like Atlas/Goliath, f'r instance.
Also, I am just so thrilled to finally be getting the Serpent Society! Their appearance was one reason I began collecting Captain America in the early nineties. Please let there be a Diamondback, an Anaconda, Black Mamba, and a King Cobra figure!! ...for those who may not know or remember, other notables include Death Adder, Sidewinder (the guy on the team ability icon... funniest mask in comic history), Cottonmouth, Puff Adder, Rock Python, Bushmaster, Rattler, Black Racer, and the Asp. I would be thrilled to see them as as clix, even if I don't get all of them, about six would be good.
Ugh I got in on this thread too late. With all the talk of Ultimates being able to or not being able to ignore KC TA, did anyone ever consider that KC TA specifially says "only a character with this Team Ability can ignore the effects of this team ability."
So what gives? Whats the priority. Lets say - just as a "for instance" - Ultimates is meant to IGNORE TA's *like* KC. But - KC says basically that "NOPE! noone without the KC TA can step up without rolling".
SO - which one are the judges gonna side with? Any judges out there have opinions? Do you follow the wording of KC or Ultimates? Which *SUPERCEDES* which TA?
