You guys need to feel it in the feature match area. No other game allows a player to say... "I... Am... Iron... Man..." in quite the same way.
That reminds me. Vs. System is the best game ever, just for the feature match area and the rest of the Pro Circuit props. They are overwhelmingly cool. I hope we get to drag them out at least once a year.
There are actual opportunities for you to yell out
Hulk Smash!!!
without anyone even raising an eyebrow.
This Modern age means Kree vs Marvel Defenders... which you KNOW will cause somebody to yell 'HULK SMASH STUPID ALIENS!'
(Additionally, Hulk will be told to live Kree... Or die)

Because unlike other Super Hero games I have played, (Overpower, Heroclix, Attacktix) being a member of a team counts for something, even if there are no team stamped abilities - Team Attacking and Reinforcing, which allows for the game to be more than straight numbers.
(Although Heroclix is adding in Themes to their sets, which I am enjoying alot, so we will see if I have to come up with another reason - which won't be hard.)
I am loving Vs. System more than ever before because of one card. Ego Gem. It is going to be the final piece to many a one-cost army puzzle. I especially dig the flavor. Those comics were so cool, and now I can squirrel-away the power of George Perez onto any little minion I want.
VS is the best game ever because of the great battle last night between the Avengers Reservists and the JLI/Injustice Gang swarming team attckers last night in the capital of Florida -- Tallahassee.
While normally a Yugioh night, their numbers strangely didn't show up. One of the Y players, who is buying the Avengers Reservist deck off me at a discount price, chanllenged me saying how the Avengers would take down anything I could throw at them. GAME ON!
The Avengers won the die roll and landed an early Rick Jones to trade blows with an army Insectoid Trooper.
Maxwell Lord searched out a JLI-Taskforce while the Avengers brought the lovely Dane Whitman to the battlegroud. With her full figured 3/3 frame, Maxwell Lord passed attacking. Whitman smacked Maxwell with Merlin's blade without a stunback and a cry of "I'm Rick Jones, b***ch" into the Trooper looked to put the Avengers up an early character. But the tables turned with a timely power up!
Quicksilver joined the fray as did Sue Dibney and Poison Ivy. The Avengers used the team attack ability marvelously getting in multiple stuns and a moderate amount of damage. Ivy lessoned some of the blow sending a stunned character off to get a Royal Egg Matrix.
Turn 4 saw Sue come out again, followed by Blue Jay and Catherine Cobert with 2 locations showing. The JLI/IG conconction does have some resiliency. But the Avengers best weapon would hit the table in the name of Hawkeye. Barton gunned down 2 team attackers as well as a stunback on the last team attacker before going down himself. 3 for 1. Brutal. JLI/IG showed their wrath for Hawkeye by Removing him From Continuity & pitching a Trooper to get the rest of his kind too. Good thing, a Hawkeye was the next card on the deck. After Avenger attacks back, the JLI/IG board slimmed to a single Ivy.
Turn 5 saw the Avengers under drop, bringing the breathtaking Natasha Romanoff and Whitman buffing up for the turn. Circe and a Trooper joined on the other side. Circe recycled a trooper, but the rebuilt JLI/IG board would again be wiped, in part due to Natasha's free stun of Ivy. Quicksilver was recovered, Natasha was not. Circe stood alone.
Turn 6 saw the dangerous Felix Faust and a Trooper land. Suddenly Faust's arrival seemed to give hope to JLI/IG again. Faust could get some damage in, stun a character, bring 3 more Troopers. Those troopers could stun a character & get the stunned one recycled by Circe. The board went from having a lone Circe to being able to attack with Felix, 5 JLI Taskforced Insectoid Troopers and Circe. Resilient indeed!
But the Avengers Assmebled the illustrious 13/13 WonderMan, with 5 flipped reservists. Faust prematurely hit the canvas & recycled. The come back was now in doubt. 3 Troopers took down the buffed WM, the stunned one getting recycled by Circe. The other 2 troopers took down Quicksilver. Here came the mistake.
Rather than Circe smashing Whitman, Circe was used to Remove Wonderman to Hawkeye's plane of existence. This left Whitman & RJ to lay waste to the Troopers. Then next turn the Avengers recruited another WonderMan from the row, gaining their 6th free stun of the game, this time on Circe. The fate of the game was sealed, hands were shook and a rematch promised.
JLI/IG: "You hit all your early drops and all those free stuns.... dang even then I had a chance until the Circe mistake."
Av: "Avengers are awesome -- Wonerman owned!"
JLI/IG: "I'll get you next time!" ;)
Tier 1.5 vs 1.5 for laughs, bragging rights, continualy twists, ebs, flows and lots of fun.
Ok here is my most recent example of why the game is TEH AWESOME!!
The matchup is Heralds vs. Kree press (I'm playing the Kree).
I get stuck with the odd initiative, which Kree don't like. I think to myself, no worries, a turn 7 win with all the characters of the deck out is still fun, right?
Anyway the game starts.
No one drops so we're on to the next turn. Turn two he has Surfer, and I manage to miss my drop. Last time I checked 12 2drops kind of guarantee that you're gonna have one. Anyway he searches and we go on.
Turn 3 I have the almighty Captain Marv-el. BOOYA! My buddy drops Airwalker. He exhausts my character and he searches for sth with Surfer.
Turn 4 he has Human Torch, and I manage to drop The most usueful 4 drop when playing curve *drumroll* Admiral Galen Kor!! He attacks, exhausts, searches....
By now I have all the blue and green cards in the freakin deck. Kree curve without Ronan 4 drop!!That kind of deck would get chosen by R&D!
Turn 5. I'm pretty excited cause it's my first press turn for the game. Minerva of course misses, by sending my 3rd Stargate, 3rd and 4th Penal Colony of the game. The rest of my drops don't really matter at that point. He has Red Shift. Some bleeding follows and we go on.
Turn 6. He has Firelord. I got the full press curve with Minerva missing again. WTF?? That deck has never done that before!! Hala, and Live Kree or Die do their job stunning back big guys. Btw revealing The Lunatic Legion to Absorba Shield is teh awesome!! Improper Burial did some damage too:classic:
Turn 7. I recruit some random punks (oh wait that's a real card:p) and he has the big Surfer. No combat no win for me:(
Turn 8. He has Thanos. At that point I should say that it's pretty annoying playing against a card with same name as yours (for those who don't know Thanos is a real name in Greece:p). I manage to build a field with 11 characters, 7 of them were dropped this turn!! Yep you heard right! So after some thought Thanos attacks my Minerva as this could be the safest possible atk. I KO half of my characters. I play The Lunatic Legion. Minerva right now has 6 atk, thanks to Shatterax. Two Halas are just enough for the stun back!! YEAH, a modest 2 drop managed to stun an 8 drop, and not just a random 8 drop. He attacks some more but when I manage to attack back I played my remaining 2 Halas, Live Kree or Die and pretty much win!!YAY!!
The marks on my face from having stuff thrown at me, are still there but they were worth it!!
