I wish they'd put together a rumour I heard about a little while back. They'd been tossing around the idea of a new series of live-action films with Triple H as Conan.
Now, before the great wailing and gnashing of teeth begins, I understand. He's a wrestler, but honestly, if you dye his hair, shave off that goofy looking Lemmy moustache of his and make him train a tiny bit harder, you'd have a solid Conan. I mean really, Arnold never was that great of an actor, and he pulled it off. HHH could adopt a similar accent to keep with continuity and I can pretty easily see him whipping around a broadsword.
As for the comics, I'm looking forward to Truman on the book. He's never disappointed before, but it's definitely gonna be a tough loss to absorb when Busiek leaves. I have some high hopes for his Aquaman series, especially with Butch Guice handling the art. Been a big fan of his since Crossgen's "Ruse" series. Have you guys been following the Red Sonja books from Dynamite? granted there's only a couple of issues, but it's shapping up to be good. Hopefully DH and Dynamite can get a crossover going soon so we can see their first meeting. Although it's already been mentioned in Sonja.
Unless Triple H is lean with some bulk and black hair he's not Conan. Neither was Arnold. The production values in the original Conan the Barbarian movie were good(The music gets special mention; it's fantastic!) but I have to side with E.G.G on his opinions of the Conan movie;
Conan wouldn't have resorted to contraptions and machinery to defeat his enemies; a good strong sword and sure footing was all he asked for.
However his prayer was neat.
I've been enjoying the Conan series since it began.
I didn't like the art in the 3 issue mini-series, the name escapes me at the moment. Cona and the Daughters of Midora I wasn't too impressed with the story, it seemed too preachy, like a bad parable.
I am enjoying Conan and the Demons of Khitai.
I do agree about the decision of whether to pick up the mini's.....
Yes, but you're a surrealist! I'm a normal guy!
Gil Zoo Crew or bust!
Part of the problem with any screened version of Conan, is that they will never
be able to cover all of the aspects needed for a decent Conan.
They need the Strength of a massive body builder, combined with a gymnasts
Agility, and at least a Light or Middleweights speed and fluidity.
On top of that you need a decent enough actor to be able to project his veiled intelligence.
The Arnie Conan is one of my favourite films, but you still need to overlook his
lumbering qualities, and the early parts with Conan just accepting his incarceration
do grate a little.
I heard that Red will be doing a crossover with some Red Hand guy...not familiar with him.
It'd be nice if they'd focus less on having 10 alternate covers per issue, and more
on getting it out every 4 weeks or so.
Let's try and bring this back.
The animated film is still in some kind of limbo.
A CCG has come out.
Just read on SuperHeroHype that a new film is being scripted.
As my previous post hinted, a scripts all well and good, but you need a convincing lead.
Are people still reading the Dark Horse series?
Well,
I just finished reading Conan #29 and I have to say I'm impressed. It was the first issue of the current Conan series I've read. I think Mignola and Nord done Roy Thomas and John Buscema proud. I thought it really captured the spirit of the classic series. On the subject of Conan artists, I have to mention one of my other favorites: Ernie Chan did a great job on those Savage Sword issues. I believe he also did some inking for Sal Buscema on Incredible Hulk. I'll be at Wizard World Chicago searching the value boxes for those back issues, old series and new!
Unfortunately, to play Conan you'd need an unknown who could combine those traits he mentions.

All very much true.

Tim Truman looks to be taking over the reigns as the writer next month.
I had worried that the book would tank when Busiek left, but Mignola did a pretty good job at the helm. I just hope Truman can keep the quality up.
Right now, Conan is my favorite comic on the market. The art is fabulous with Nord at the helm, and the coloring is wonderful (I think the coloring actually really makes it, meshing with Nord's loose style extremely well), and the stories are great.
So here's to hoping Truman can carry on and keep the book going.
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
I feel I should point out, with all the talk of Civil War and to a lesser extent
Annihilation, Planet Hulk is getting no recognition.
I think it's pretty good, and has a bit of a King Conan vibe to it.
