It's pretty good--nothing major has happened yet, but the mood/tone is very cool if you're a fan of the late 70's/early 80's Batman era.
Batman is a detective, he's dark and driven, but Bruce Wayne leads a semi-functional life.
It's only 2 issues in, but I'd suggest you check it out if you're a Bat-fan.
I have intended to pick the first two issues up, but it slipped my mind. On another forum, someone suggested that this series is what All Star Batman should have been. What do you think?

Considering it's a retelling of one of the earliest Batman stories, the mood actually goes back even a bit further and touches on being "Golden Agey" at times - it's rather nice.
Great seeing Julie Madison again - talk about a character that was a victim of changes in the comic's direction. Anyway, it's thanks to her we're seeing Bruce leading a semi-functional life - I don't know if they'll end up engaged (and then un-engaged - if she survives) like they were in the Golden Age, but it's still interesting to see her given characterization and we're shown why Bruce considered marrying her back then.
Pretty funny, in a way, to see a story that was only about 10 pages originally turned into multiple prestige format issues.
Now if only they'll remember the bi-plane and Batman using it to gun down the Monster Men.
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Pretty much anything would have been better than All Star Batman and Robin--remember, I'm one of 2 people who don't like Frank Miller writing Batman. (Although Monster Men draws heavily on Year One--the only Miller Batman I can stand.)

All Star Batman is the only Miller Batman I've read . . . and it sucks . . . bad.
