One problem I ran into in my area is judges going by the week number listed on the prize support. Nathaniel Richards is actually the earlier week, but Norrin Radd is supposed to be the Invitational prize. Make sure that your judge knows.
Well, I AM pretty awesome.
An understanding of the law of large numbers leads to a realization that what appear to be fantastic improbabilities are not remarkable at all but, merely to be expected.

What, are you nuts? I'm not giving back my Nathaniel Richards! What if they declare a "do-over" and I have to go through the whole tournament again with my cruddy team of Jack of Hearts, R Bulldozer and E Shi'ar Borderer?

Things like qualifiers and Marquees can not be house ruled and must be run exactly as WK tells us. You may wish to polite remind your judge and/or venue of this fact and that, if WK were to find out that things were not done per their instructions, the venue and judge could be in deep doo-doo (venue status revoked, judge status revoked, loss of potential pre-release, etc).
I know of a couple venues in smaller areas that basically say, "We don't care what WK's says. We'll run the events how we feel. And if they are upset, tough. What will they do? Stop letting us run events? We'll just say we'll stop carrying thier product and then they'll back of and leave us alone. I'ts not like they have a way to enforce what we do here."
WizKids GamePlay, "You can only play our game if you buy the new stuff. Those old figures are dirty and obsolete."
Record vs VGA d1sc1pL3: W-3 L-0
From the WizKids Fourms You should use the most recent expansion that you have available.
Yup - "should".
Sometimes "should" is a great word.
'sides, I think they would have had a lot less fun if they all got stuck with two boosters of Sinister - (the most recent available).
"Lets see, I'll keep the E Fixer and pass the E Fixer, R Deathlok, R Deathlok, and this crumpled up cardboard thing... Nice little team I have going with E Fixer, E Fixer, R Deathlok and a Lockheed." :knockedou
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

At one venue I played on Friday, Nathaniel Richards was given out as the Invitational prize, much to the horror of the champ and Fellowship winner. The judge had the LE Surfers, but didn't want to give them up... Luckily, I won Norrin on Saturday.

The first one I played in we did use Sinister, and it proved to be a very fun match.

That is exactly what they would do.

All I have to say to this is WK is probably pulling in a a lot more money than some small Mom-and-Pop venue that doesn't want to play by the rules, so they probably won't miss the lost revenue so much as the venue would. Also, unless I am mistaken, WK doesn't sell to venues directly; they go through distributors. So, by not carrying WK products, the venue is only really hurting themselve and maybe whomever their distributor is. WK would only be peripherally involved at that point.
Is it really too much to ask that one, maybe two, events every 3 or 4 months is run the way WK wants them to be run? The rest of the time a judge can house rule his or her heart out.
