I was also hoping Strange would be the one to dissuade Reed from using the Gauntlet. It would have been a nice parallel to the trial of Adam Warlock, and would have solved the situation internally, instead of relying on the Watcher.
Know what I find really interesting about this - it just goes to show how much "Civil War" took a marquee character and ruined him in a lot of people's eyes. Two years - heck, even a year ago (though we had started on the early "Civil War"-prelude bits by then) - people wouldn't have rooted for the idea of Iron Man getting disintegrated (actually considering the shipping speed of his own title a couple years ago we probably would have just been happy to -see- Iron Man anywhere).
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Well, I can honestly say that his porn 'stache and 70's attitude have annoyed me for considerably longer than the carptastic Civil War. I must admit I laughed in CW7 when he told Hill to get him coffee.
I thought it was a pretty good issue. We'll know by next issue if the series is worth a ####. So far I like it though. Easily one of the best gatherings of characters ever.
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC
The best part of this series has been Namor. When Namor is the voice of reason, you know you are in a bad place. Which secret war is the next issue Nick Fury's or Beyonder's?
ULTRA-HUMANITE of the SSOSV Clan!
ROCK WARS TRIO WINNER: RUSH!
The advice of Neil Peart:
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose FREEWILL!
We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost
well, since the original Secret War took place well before the Gaunlet saga, I'd think it was Fury's SW coming up.
And how could they use the gaunlet anyways? the Tribunal passed judgement that the gems could no longer work in unison within the universe (tho I take it to mean the 616 U). Only once was the ban lifted, and that was temporary, as was stated by Eternity in the Infinity War.
Come to think of it, how could any of these guys (aside from Dr Strange) remember the events of the Gaunlet? Only Strange, Warlock, Eric Masterson (as Thor), Silver Surfer and the higher up conceptional beings (like Eternity) were suppose to remember.
So I'm really liking these stories! I think that once Prof. X comes back to Earth(If he survives!) he might whip out that Mind Gem.
I'm also kinda curious/worried that Tony used the Reality Gem during Civil War...It would be interesting but could cause SO many problems/complaints. Would I like it? You bet I would. Would others like it? Some yes, but many would hate. Plus Tony looked like he WAS against getting them anyway, so maybe he didn't use it...I guess we'll find out.
Also, another thought. When I saw Prof. X's face, it looked a bit too serious. And he COULD read everyones mind to find where the other gems are since Read didn't not have a safe guard like Warlock did(As in, he made it so Moon Dragon couldn't read any of the Infinity Watches mind) so yeah....
