and actually, would it be consider cheating since it's more of a fanfic then just a plot for a DC what if story?
1. Probably...it kind of depends how many entries I have by midnight Monday.
2. That's double the word requirement, so yeah.
3. The format really should be in the form of a pitch you'd send to DC or Marvel -- not so much a fanfic. See the earlier entries for some good examples.
Spiderman hears sirens, and he follows. Turns out they're ambulances and Peter just sees the worst. Over 3 dozen dead on the ground. Black Cat shows up. Peter asks what she knows. She says nothing. He asks again. She simply replies "Kingpin". Felicia then goes on saying the Kingpin has been handing out an experinmental "Hero" drug that gives you powers....But theres a side effect, it stops the heart if you don't get another dose/antidote into your system in 48 hours. "It gets worse" says Felecia, "Apparently, this "Hero" drug can be controlled by the Kingpin. As in, he can make you use your powers the way he wants you to, he has full control." Peter simply asks her for help to solve this, she accepts.
They go around searching. Going to dealers, they find nothing. Until finally, they hear a scream. It's a women screaming for her life with a deranged man attacking. Peter and Feleica contain the man. Women explains she works for the Kingpin, and the man was a guy who got "Hero" from her 46 hours ago. She's telling them this info because she was wrong and wants to do some justice against the Kingpin. The two take her word, and the info she gives them. They drop the man off and go to a deal.
Vulture is seen when the door is open. Black Cat is knocked across the room, Spiderman barley dodges. Pete notices the Vulture is pumped up on something. Vulture explains the drug. Feleica then leaps. She teleports behind and throws him down. Peter looks at Felecia puzzled. She explains it was a new technique she had designed for her, "Smoke and Mirrors" she explains to Pete. Peter lets it be. Running into the next room, they find Kingpin. Pete is ready to charge, but he sees Black Cat sweating and not moving. "What's wrong, Cat?" asks Peter. She says sadly "I'm sorry Spider, I didn't know this would happen." And she grabs Pete with her claws and throws him up into the ceilng. Pete pumbles downwards into the ground. He slowly gets up to see what happened. Turns out Kingpin is controlling Cat. She took the drug. Explaining to Peter she didn't know the Kingpin designed it. She just wanted powers, and now she wants the antidote or enough of it to last her a while so she wouldn't die. Spiderman on the ground, he doens't know what to say. The Kingpin walks up to him and says "Poor Spidey, now trapped in my web." The Kingpin picks up Spiderman belly-to-belly, squeezes and a crack is echoed throughout the warehouse. Feleicia cries. Stares helplessly at Spiderman. Kingpin kicking at Pete, until Felecia yells. Fisk spits. He grabs Cat and says "Let's go get you some more Hero in you." Pete laying there. Staring at the ceiling. It wasn't even a fight, Pete fell into the trap. Kingpin has won.
Just a note before this begins, I didn’t know if I could do a decent showdown in a single issue, so hopefully no one will take this too seriously. Also, the 500 words starts after this, otherwise I'd be over.
Wonder Man vs. The Grim Reaper
The story begins casually with Simon on the set of Explosion: The Movie chatting up one of his co-stars with tales of his days in the Avengers. “Weren’t you the one in stupid safari jacket?” she asks. “Nah, nah babe, that was…Vision. He’s a total queen. Me though? I‘m all man.” Simon winks but forgot he was wearing his sunglasses as his co-star stares vacantly. Suddenly the producer enters the set and yells at Simon, telling him he’s just been replaced by an actual actor. Simon can get out who it is, just that he has to get off the set immediately. He punches a hole in the side of the fake backdrop and storms off.
Simon calls up his agent, screaming at him for any kind of info on who took his role from him. His agent can only refer him to another agency, a new one set up by a guy named Wic Erlliams. “You heard of him before?” Simon’s agent asks. Simon scowls as he crushes his cell phone. He looks at his crushed phone “####, I just bought that.”
Simon finds the agency and finds the office of Eric Williams. He kicks down the door to find an office filled with a multitude of computers that apparently do nothing. A large chair faces them and turns to reveal…the Grim Reaper! Simon confronts his brother who asks him how he figured out it was him. “You’re a moron! That’s how! Wic Erlliams? Only you would be stupid enough to think of a pseudonym like that!” Somewhere the real Wic Erlliams sheds a tear. Wonder Man and the Grim Reaper begin to fight in the small room, crashing through a few other offices in the process. The Grim Reaper is getting the upper hand and begins to gloat, as usual. As he goes in with a lengthy monologue recounting their sibling rivalry and his constant jealousy, Simon delivers the mother of all junk shots screaming “Shut the hell up!”. The Grim Reaper goes down and Wonder Man hauls him down to the waiting police van.
The Grim Reaper is put in the back and screams at Simon, claiming to have already won. Simon laughs as a few reporters swarm, not interested in the fight at all but asking about how he feels about his replacement. Simon scowls and says no hack can ever be as wonderful as him. The reporters look at each other and laugh, telling Simon that the star of A Wonderful Life making his triumphant return might be a bigger deal then him. Apparently Jimmy Stewart and dozens of other stars have been brought back to life. Simon looks at his brother who has a huge grin on his mouth. Just as the van drives off he yells back to Simon “Nice career you had there!. There’s always porn jackass!”. The final page has a zombie-esque Jimmy Stewart firing a machine gun on the set of Explosion: The Movie.
Know what helps? Remembering that "What If?" is not the same as "Elseworlds" before you start getting ideas going in your head. Yeah, I'm having one of those weeks where I should've thought of that before I got too far. Fortunately I always have a Plan B...and C...still no Plan 9 from Outer Space though.
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

What about a Plan ? Apparently, that's the next generation of plans.
He was one of the first Legacy heroes. You knew him as the Blue Beetle and in your reality, Ted Kord was shot by an old friend – Maxwell Lord – setting off a string of incidents that would lead to the Infinite Crisis. Yet now let us ask, “What if Ted Kord Had Not Been Killed?”
Unlike in your world, Ted accepts Max’s offer to join Checkmate. Unbeknownst to Lord, Beetle has a secret agenda. Kord feels that Checkmate is good but Lord, corrupt. Secretly contacting the non-meta Batman Ted began masterminding the takedown of the leadership of Checkmate. They bring in other non-metahuman heroes as well as the few metahumans not too separated from the human-viewpoint and succeed in besting Checkmate. The ensuing fight would have tilted in Lord’s favour thanks to the OMAC Corps except that Beetle’s investigations had led Bruce Wayne to find the wayward Brother-Eye and change it back to his side. The threat of the OMAC’s and Checkmate was over and the organization converted to a covert watchmen organization but the change was not that simple.
The takeover of Superman’s mind would not occur here. Batman – now coordinating Checkmate and the OMAC’s – saw no reason to try and mend fences with those who had invaded his memory. Superman found himself taking up for the disbanded JLA and moving from emergency to emergency so frequently that he became a do’er of tasks rather than the inspiration for mankind. Wonder Woman – without the lesson she learned from killing Max Lord – found her ways growing further from the mission of peace. Uninvaded, the Amazons stayed on the planet but as Diana grew distant from their teachings they reject her. The Trinity is shattered.
Earth’s heroes were able to concentrate on key threats before they became critical, including Eclipso’s temptation of the Spectre. Contacting Jim Corrigan’s spirit, Earth’s heroes managed to convince him to rejoin the Spectre who casts the Black Diamond into the sun. Shazam was able to best Mordru and remain alive, though not before the deaths of Hector and Lyta Hall. Daniel – Sandman of the Dreaming – sees the loss of his parents and seeks another envoy on Earth; finding none he recollects the dream essence of Wesley Dodds – the Golden Age Sandman – and reforms him. Tormented by the loss of Heaven, Dodds’ prophetic nightmares worsen nightly.
Captain Marvel – not trapped in the Rock of Eternity – was able to come to Black Adam’s aid as he is beset by the Monster Society of Evil. The battle was horrific and by the end the Wizard and the Rock of Eternity – within it the corpse of Teth-Adam – were separated from the world while Mary and Freddy lay comatose. Billy, horrified and feeling lost, renounced his power and became a wanderer…at least until found by Lex Luthor.
The Rann-Thanagar War would be dealt with faster without other events to draw attention away from the machinations but the cost is great, including the end of Oa. Alan Scott is the last Green Lantern.
Back on Earth, Superman would find himself absent and unable to save his friends and loved ones from the Joker. Distraught and without the guidance of Batman and Wonder Woman, Kal-el leaves things in the hands of a new breed of metas led by the hero known as Magog.
Lost in a pocket dimension, the original Superman – Kal-L – watched; unlike your world, Wonder Woman’s slaying of Max Lord had not provoked Kal-L to break through the barrier. Distraught over his counterpart’s loss of Lois, Kal-L found himself spending more time with his wife. It is then Kal-L finds out Lois’ aging was caused by Alexander in an attempt to spur Kal-L to shatter reality. A battle ensues and far from anyone’s eyes, the original Superman’s never-ending battle ends…saving all reality when none would ever know.
Years later – as we see gazing upon the final panels – Wes Dodds is passing away and his visions must go to another. Daniel knowing that it’s the turning point of this world’s reality picks a man of good soul but confused faith to bear the gift and aid the Spectre with Final Judgement. That man is Norman McCay and the answer to “What If?” is: Kingdom Come.
