They did this to keep people from sticking Saboteur on an Outsider, CSA, Power Cosmic, etc. as GreenMonster implied. Sure, stick Saboteur on that Silver Surfer... I'll let my whole team be Power Cosmic!

While that's true, AW is just about to retire (which is what my point was). By the time Norm could get a response from GD on this, AW would be non-retired for all of 2-3 months.... I really doubt GD would take the time of day to think about it or work it out on paper how it should go (especially since most players wouldn't want to give their opponents a benefit by using Sabateur to give their opponent something powerful like SupesAlly, BatAlly, or Outsiders).
