Is anyone else having these issues, is anyone else reading this stuff? I see all those letter page letters with people saying they are praising the new direction, but I just wanna sit down and ask them what the bloody hell are you reading? I don't begrudge anyone their opinions, cause its their opinion and god bless, but can someone really defend this decesion as the right one and tell me its better then continuing the real story in the real marvel universe? I can't ask them those questions, so I am asking you, my fellow realmsers who are reading it, or who stopped reading it. What do you really think of this new/old spider-man.
You have to keep in mind with these letters, the editor (Joe Quesada or however you spell the bloody thing: Quesadilla) chooses what letters get printed.
And I whole-heartedly concur with your sentiments. Spider-Man is still my favorite hero. Brand New Day does not feature Spider-Man.
Eh . . .
I have no sekrets, I just am.
Want to see me strip, sing, screw up my lines, and dance for my senior year spring play? Then check this out!
The only Spidey I read anymore is New Avengers. I know the focus isn't soley on Spiodey in that book, but at least One Day More hadsn't seemed to effect anything there (Because the mind boggles as to what they would have to do with his relationship with every member of the NA). So to me, Spidey in NA is the one I knew growing up without all the One Day rubbish. Hope that helps.
This is an excellent point! The Spider-Man in New Avengers would be the first person they thought is a skrull now, since no one knows who he is! His relationships with all those people cannot be explained with BND in play, and how can he have any place in Secret Invasion? Joey Q is the biggest idiot to ever run a company, and in america, that is saying something.

I completely agree. I've loved Spiderman since I was a kid. And I still do love the character. But I dropped all the Spiderman titles in disgust when BND hit. I love LOVE JMS's writing. He's one of my favorite writers. He brought some actual character development to Pete and MJ. And it was only out of respect for him that I managed to spend money on the last two issues of One More Day. Joey Q is the worst thing to happen to Marvel comics....EVER.
(Props to Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa too for being an excellent Spiderman writer. His title was cut too short too.)

QFT. It was a really a shame he didn't get to go longer!

I'm sorry for your loss, 'Dog. I hope your Spider-Heart will go on.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

Bah! OMD didn't just make me quit reading Spidey, it made me quit reading Marvel.
OMD ruined spidey for me. Ruined. I've quit reading Marvel before they have a chance to ruin the FF, X-Men, Avengers, etc. Heaven knows I've got a lot to read just by pouring through my long boxes again. And as a bonus, I've got more money in my wallet at the end of the month.
Count me as one of the fallen. I have been reading Spidey for 20 years - I will not pick up another issue until they fix this awful piece of garbage they call BND.
To write stories in continuity is very easy when you know where to take something. IT REALLY IS NOT THAT HARD TO REDIRECT A CHARACTER. Joe Q is an awful planner, an awful president, and has no idea how to keep a reader base happy. When is he going to get that NO ONE CARES about his stupid ego. We want what WE want, not what HE wants. We know better and we want one thing: for people to be true to our favorite characters. We sure as #### dont want a reboot every five years. If people were good at planning, it wouldnt need to happen, but time after time Joe Q shows how much of a comic noob he is.
Wow, so much rage in here. I won't argue any points made, people are free to react as they choose. My only advice is for everyone to just chill out, listen to some Billy Preston, and enjoy life. I love Spidey as much as the next guy around here, but the rage worries me some. Maybe I'm just too easy going.
For the record, I think Spidey needed a fresh new start. Not necessarily getting rid of MJ, just something to remove the funk of the last 15 years or so. Marvel just decided they wanted to use the stupidest possible way of changing it up.
I've got a question for folks though, would anyone here have rather seen Spider-Man pull a Thor and disappear for a few years? What about pulling an Iron Fist and vanish from an ongoing for more then a decade? I'm not trying to tweak anyone, I'm genuinely curious as to what people would like to see as a reboot.

Spidey didn't have to do anything. He didn't need to vanish. He didn't need a reboot at all. All he really needed? Good writing and good stories.
