I've been partial to Hawkeye ever since the relaunch of Avengers in the 90s with Heroes Return, and his leadership of the Thunderbolts afterward. I was angry when he died such a meaningless death in Avengers Disassembled and glad when he was brought back in House of M. I've been on the fence about his adoption of the Ronin identity in New Avengers, but was just glad to have him back in a book regularly.
Needless to say, I've put most of the blame for his pitfalls on Bendis, I felt like he didn't really know Clint was and just made him another one of his "talking heads."
Enter New Avengers #50, on sale this week. That's the Clint I remember, and that's the kind of hero I read comic books for in the first place.
Touche Mr. Bendis, and kudos.
Agreed. And I liked Mockingbird's internal monologue. Yeah, it is WEST COAST AVENGERS good
