It's in a drug store is what is mentioned in an earlier thread.
A drug store sorts all the mail coming into the city?
Wish I could do more to help out in this matter, but I don't know much about the US postal system as I do not live there...
well ####. I sent my stuff to her wed. Nothing huge... but still =(
have to had her to the list that burned me.
well, as I have said there is a slight chance she could be trying to build her rating and have sent your end out... but I certainly wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.
You can add me to the list too. Sent out figs last Tues and they were delivered on Thurs. No PM about a DC# or any other contact. If they arrive this week, will post and let everyone know. But I'm not counting on it.
Fortunatly the stuff I sent isn't of high value. Some FCBD figs and a map. More annoyed that I have to look for the figs again.
Whatever gender this nerdstereotype is, they contacted me last week about a possible trade.
So I checked their itrader rep and yes some of it was old around 2006 but there was also a negative on their rep as well.
So, I asked them to send 1st because of this[they had a slightly higher trade rep than mine but I was being cautious]-the trade was for some uniques and nons I think.
They never responded back after reading it, so we never made a deal.
Now they are banned.
Make of it what you will.
Glad I didn't trade.
My advice if any of you trade a chase fig over the 'net that you use a 3rd party like a mod or something from this website.

This exact thing has happened to at least half a dozen other realmers, myself included. The first major clue something wasn't right...
Just so others know in the future Queb...HHHnRaven and I both had first contact aprehensions regarding Nerd (smelled fishy) so we had requested (s)he send first for a couple of simple reasons:
1) Offered pieces where definitely way too good to be true...
2) Had been off the realms for over 2 years
3) Had as one of the last itraders a neg feedback.
We received no response, even though (s)he was definitely back up on the realms trying to make other trades. We began inquiring with others we saw bumping her trade thread or anywhere she was trading if they had also been offered "way too good" trade offers and told them of our concerns. Over the course of the week, we had warned a few people. We noticed that she had received a pos feedback from somebody from a direct one-on-one trade (no thread bump anywhere) which looked like a prop-up for the scam. Someone (I can't remember) said they were confident that this person was back on the boards was legit and it was getting tiring policing this one person, so I had to abandon the effort.
HHHnRaven and myself were ready to take this to a mod, but the issue for us was that we did not want to falsely accuse someone that we had no proof was not on the up and up. For those of you who got scammed, I apologize for not acting on my instincts and relaying our concerns to a mod earlier, but it's not an easy thing to accuse someone for something you had no proof of.
Queb, if you could...can you please give us an idea of how to handle such matters, delicately in the future? Thanks...and once again, sry to those of you that got skunked.
Dream BIG, but keep the small dreams around just in case...

Take it straight to a moderator next time. Believe me, we do not take action unless we are 100% convinced the person is up to no good. Suspicions is well and good, but I for one won't take action on that alone.
It's also probably a good idea to let the moderator do the skulking around and asking questions as it is a little bit easier to get answers for us. You don't need to present enough evidence to have someone convicted, just letting us know you suspect something it wrong is good enough.
Do you think that these repeat offenders set up a bunch of puppet accounts so long in the past?
To me it seems more credible that a scammer looks for old, inactive accounts with existing positive feedback, and hacks into them in some way. I've never had to request a forgotten password so I'm actually not sure how easy or hard this would be.
It might be helpful to look into some countermeasures for this kind of thing.
rat bastard scammers. I knew something was rotten in Denmark with "her" 3 year absence. Then when I requested she send first, all communication broke off. Glad I didn't follow through on the trade. To all those that got burned, you have my condolences.
Well, I hate that I got cheated too. But I'm glad it was only an Omega Red. So, pretty much what I'm doing now is spamming the mail address they gave me. Should be pretty fun, they had to have someone pick up the package atleast.

I'm fairly sure KG_NINE at least is an old account of popinjay's - I did a trade with him myself back when I started out, so I know quite a few details that match nicely with what we later learned about popinjay.
But no, I don't think the accounts were created to scam anyone - in that case they would probably have done so much sooner. It's far more likely that they have taken over someone elses account - either by hacking or simply by asking someone they know who used to be here if they could use their account.
I think that is what happened in the case of npolly - Norman Polly wasn't a scammer, but when Ritchie Loe got hold of the account things got real bad real soon.
Heck, the person who registered the popinjay account may not be the same person as the one commiting all these scams.

I've asked AZS to ban the IP number from which NerdStereotype, CPMunk and now KG_NINE has operated from. That's a start at least.

I do not endorse this. I do not think it improves the situation in any way. If anything, it makes it harder to bring legal action against the scammers as they can counter-sue for harassment.
Has anyone actually had any successful legal action against a scammer? I've never heard of it happening, and they keep coming back. I say spam the hell away if that's what you want to do with your time/money.

Hey, there's a first time for everything. I know the Sturgis police department did look into the whole popinjay affair, don't know if it came to anything.
