Sorry if I was unclear on my post. Up until now, I don't think Marvel has ever had any version of Sobek. I read Nova (LOVE that comic!) and thought the same thing you guys did. I only suggested it was a Marvel version of Sobek because Sobek wasn't a DC creation. Sobek is an ancient Egyptian crocodile god, which means that Yuurd, DC's famine horseman of Apokolips, who had disguised himself as Sobek in 52, was simply using the name of a known god, a name they do not own and Marvel is certainly welcome to use, as well.
I assumed that giant monstrosity was some kind of avatar of Sobek's, or some creature created by the Sphinx in honor of Sobek.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
Right, what I was trying to say is I'm familiar with Sobek the Egyptian deity. What I wasn't aware of or not was if Marvel has ever portrayed him anywhere. The Egyptian gods have occasionally shown up in various things in Marvel (occasionally in Thor for instance), and I wasn't sure if Sobek had ever made an appearance in Marvel cannon.
Not trying to be a jerk about things.
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
I'm not sure, but I do believe Marvel has shown their version before. A number of the Egyption gods and the like have shown up over the years, mostly in Thor's book. Sobek may've shown up therein once or twice.
I wonder if Sobek has ever appeared other than as a dictionary entry, though. The links take you to Geb, god of the Earth, a link with a decidedly human-looking deity whose description is utterly without any mention of the words "Sobek" or even "crocodile."
Is Geb supposed to be some variation on Sobek or did I read that link wrong?

Geb (Gebeb) is someone else. And associated with the Goose, not the Crocodile.

DARK AVENGERS ANNUAL #1: After realizing that the Dark Avengers are *gasp!*...Evil...Captain Marvel the Younger faces off against Darth Osborn, and must choose whether to save the Planet or Fall to the Dark Side to help Rule it.
I found a funny analysis of this title on Bleeding Cool. I thought you guys might like this....
So, I'm wondering, who is Norman's secret weapon? I thought when they first showed him/her/it, it was Sentry. Siege: The Cabal pretty much rules that out, and the ad in Nova doesn't help much as it shows a few people that it simply cannot be - X-Man, Scarlet Witch, Molecule Man - plus a few others that are highly unlikely - Mephisto, Thanos, and I'm guessing Odin. The only one that makes sense from the ad was the Beyonder, but if he had the Beyonder on his side, he wouldn't need to do things the way he's doing them, would he?
My guess is it's a Skrull, one of the suped-up ones.

The Beyonder also didn't need to use machines, but he did. It's one of his quirks. So, yes, it could very well be him and he's probably the last part from the Illuminati storyline not to be brought in.
Also, whoever it is the others are afraid of, it wouldn't be Mephisto, because Loki still has some revenge he'd like to get on Meph from sometime ago and the Loki and Meph are about equals when it comes to power bases.
So, yes, it could very well be him and he's probably the last part from the Illuminati storyline not to be brought in.
That's part of why I didn't rule him out. Every other Illuminati issue led to something else except the Beyonder story. Wouldn't Taskmaster have recognized him, though, or at very least not freaked out as much as he did?
Anyway, I meant Norman, who doesn't seem to be past blatantly exploiting people to suit his needs. If he had the Beyonder in his camp, someone who can pretty much alter reality, not to mention make a whole lot of stuff Norman's done/will do much easier, why would he hold him back as nothing more than muscle? Seems odd to me. It probably is him, but it just seems out of place for Norman not to get more use out of such a resource.

Weren't you the one who got really annoyed when the Illuminati mini-series revealed that the Beyonder was actually a suped up Inhuman? Or do I have you confused with everyone else on the internet?
That's my guess as to why it's the Beyonder, I don't think Bendis is done with him yet.
