Uni, my friend, I'm not so sure about that DFD arguement. Maybe it's my english that sucks but here's what's written in the (revised) stats rules:
Defend [DFD]: A character earns a DFD when through the use of a power, ability, team ability, trait or feat that character
a) causes an attack made by an opposing character to not succeed
b) prevents an opposing character from using a power, team ability, trait or feat that would deal damage to a friendly character
c) prevents an opposing player from making any attack.
Option b), highlight on "a friendly character". It's not "all friendly characters". My idea was always this one and I bet I've given DFDs to other characters on previous games based on this premise. I'm not sure what the people meant by this rule (was it implied that all attacks had to be stopped???), but it just seems awkward if all attacks must be involved. A figure can help A team mate and be awarded for doing so. My thought...
Oh and by the way, I didn't get your last roll. It doesn't matter much to me, but please take a look to which mail you're sending them to.

About the DFD - that's what the commissioners (obviously, besides you
have always said about Barrier - it's got to stop everything. The "a" in "a friendly character" means "any and all".
I think it was explained like this - imagine if a figure just stood there putting Barriers around, say, a 6 pt generic Moloid, while the rest of the team was attacked. Sure, the Moloid was OK (for a while). That would totally cheapen DFDs.
It was further explained to me that the Barrier has to completely stop attacks. If it's in any way possible for a 3-damage character to break the barrier and another figure to make an attack, then no DFD.
