I beg to differ.. beast was not in X2, he was in x3 and was blue and furry.
charles's appearance at the end of wolverine is standing (but IIRC, he regained his usages of his legs in the comics before, so this is possible)
imo, the biggest inconsistency is Havok himself.. Alex Summers is meant to be Scott Summers younger brother. alex appears to be almost 20 years older than his brother. hmm.
He wasn't in X2. He was in X1 having an interview on a talk show and he was still in his human form. First Class is definitely a reboot, and a much needed one at that.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I'm curious Carbon- in what ways did First Class break continuity with the other X-men films? Sure, it messed a lot with comic continuity, but all the X-films did that. But it seemed quite consistent with the other X-films to me.
And we need a Darwin-clix darn it! I was hoping he'd be in GSX....along with all the other Unmade X-factorites (Layla Miller, Monet St. Croix, etc)
The other big one is the presence and age of Alex Summers - isn't he Scott's twin/ similar age brother? That somewhat breaks continuity.
If it were really a reboot, we'd have Cyclops instead of Havok, Warren Angel instead of stripper Angel, and Iceman, and Jean Grey.
I would have loved to have seen them in there, but you can't hold the X-Movies to comic continuity. You can't hold ANY comic movies to comic contunity. Comic movies have to be adapted for a much wider audience then the fanboys/girls.
The problem is that Fox wanted "other mutants" we hadn't really seen since this isn't a "reboot". So we can't have the original comic X-Men or Hellfire Club because this is set in the 60's and most of them wouldn't be alive yet if we're following the timeline of the other X-Movies. But the finished product screams "reboot" with all the continuity issues and changes so I assume Fox said "Whatever, It's a good movie, contunuity be damned! We'll just quietly reboot the franchise without the reboot tag so that people don't get upset or angry".
All that being said, I was very pleased with the movie and look forward to the next X-Film since we've proven that they can be done well (I had lost hope after X3 ... ).
And yes, I did sing "Footloose" to myself anytime Kevin Bacon was on the screen. Great villain. GREAT DANCER.

Well, let's take the issue of Emma Frost... she's a fully-grown sexbomb in this film, whereas she was a high school student in the Wolverine film.
There is a blonde girl transforming into cristal in wolverine but she is never called Emma as i recall, she is just said to be wolvie's girlfriend sister.

There were also the issues of Charles and Magneto finding mutants together, but not making a visit to Jean Grey's house.
It happens a lot later...

Xavier was older and still walking, and he and Magneto apparently hadn't had their big break...
Yes, and they were different actors too.
But it still could have happen and not been on screen

Xavier also told Wolverine in the first film that Magneto helped him build Cerebro, which is why Magneto knew how Cerebro worked and how to construct his helmet. Now we're told that Beast designed Cerebro and the Soviets designed the telepathy-proof helmet...
In the comics, Xavier & Magneto are friends, then ennemies again, then friends again... he could have helped him built it later
Or he could have help him move it from the SHIELD to his house (that's building too)

Beast was talking with a "Mr. Shaw" in the background of (I think) X2...
yes that's the inconsistency i noted (the only one i noted at first)
ignoring the cameo seems logical to me, and concentrating on the main plot

Moira MacTaggart being an American CIA agent as opposed to a Scottish scientist in X3 raises more questions as well...
With her memory erased, she could have been fired from the CIA and start a new life somewhere else. We don't know if she is a scientist for sure in x3, and i think we don't know in first class what were her studies before being in CIA

Storm's (possible) cameo had her as teenager in the early 1960's...
he could be storm mother
Havok could be Scott father
Sean sur is Syrin father too
I was surprised how well they made it feel and consistent all together.
Perhaps they missed some details, but most of all, they "filled in the blanks" and made it believable. Especially to those who aren't (contrary to us) misleaded by what we already know about the originals (or ultimates) comics

As with the better stories over the years in the comics, retroactive explanations done well can certainly affirm and enhance the existing stories.

Wrong about Hank's first appearance. He was on a tv in s bar in human form debating with someone named "Mr. Shaw". Don't remember if it was the first or second film, but it was in there. The actor that played him was the same guy that did his voice in the 90s cartoon.
As for Xavier walking again when they visit Jean, I've got a feeling that they could tie that into a possible "truce" period that could happen after the events of this film but before the prelude of X3. Maybe Magneto could have "repair" Chuck's damage (like Xorn did in the comics) and then redamaged him later. If handled correctly, this could pan out in a credible way.
As far as Havok goes, that could be setting up for a a different relationship with Cyke a la Ultimate continuity where he is the older bro. He could turn out to be Cyke's father for the sake of the movie universe.
I would play GSX Xavier on this team (If its based on the final battle)
Mostly because he did'nt do all that much moving during combat. He just stayed in the blackbird (or starting area) and used his powers to help Erik take on Shaw.
As far as I can see the way GSX Xavier is played is pretty much the way he faught in the movie.
Just my take on things
The film is the better.
I prefer:
Magneto 189
Professor X 123
Beast 95
Mystique 86
Banshee Vet 90
Havok Vet 44
Darwin (Gideon) 85
Angel (archangel) 86
