Well then you'll be happy with this set. I pride myself on being spot-on with predicting the prices of figures, I feel I just have a knack for it. Thus far, nothing stands out from Hulk.
I know I shouldn't, but I just heard your words in the voice of Criswell, that seer of all things in "Plan 9 From Outer Space."
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
I think Wolverine could be that figure for some people. It could also be the final nail in the coffin for other people.
Could be. I'm very curious to see Black Bolt, and how they handle what Rick Jones can switch into, among others.

I know I'm more excited when I see a figure that's really good that is going to take some luck and/or luck to pull. If the most difficult to pull figures are just "average," then I lose excitement for a set a lot faster. I think the last few sets have been utter failures in the sense of making chases that people want.
I don't mind, and prefer the chases be handled the way they've been more recently; I would make the concession that if they want to make them more over-powered, as they were doing for a time, I'm fine with that. I do want them to stick with making them very narrow, short-lived variants of known characters.
The level of a set can be raised appreciably by just giving more thought to the SRs and even Rares, along with giving us generics that are strongly sought-after.

Thankee, my friend. Just goes to show what finding a bag of Spawn Pogs can do to a fella.

Dunno about anyone else here, but the closest thing to my own annual garden project involves renewing my love-hate relationship with our lawnmower.
Yeesh, how I wish we could get one without the need to pull on some dang cord to get it started.:cross-eye

So I was trying to come up with a list of songs for a "workout album." I don't care for Raggae, Rap, and shouting metal music. Probably need something a bit more upbeat. Thus far I have these songs as possible additions...
There's some other song, and I don't know the name of it. It probably falls under the category of classical music. It's pretty "epic," but I can't think of the name of it. The melody is in my head though.
All that said, I know you're not alone in that view, robedestroyer. I've just always found the chase approach to be the hobbyist equivalent of going nuclear. Besides, while we've yet to see how the new set size/collation will really work out in terms of how collectable a set is, I've found that the SRs - in terms of trying to complete a set via booster pulls - have already been more of a chase than I care for since the switch with Avengers.

The SR's, at least lately, haven't really added much to the collectible aspect of the game for me. You shouldn't pull a chase or sr and feel "oh, well that's nice. " but all too often that's happening more and more. I feel we need to pump more excitement and "Holy cow!" into this game again.
BTW…regarding Pogs and names…who knows the link -- in TV name only -- of a cast member on “The Big Bang Theory” to the game’s history?
Well, I don't know if this bit of Pogs trivia is good enough to earn you a beer at the Hairy Fist Saloon, but...
From 1990-95, Mayim Bialik of “The Big Bang Theory” starred as Blossom on the TV show of the same name --- which happens to be the same first name as the Hawaiian teacher, Blossom Galbiso, credited with reviving the game of Pogs back in the 1990s.

I'm in this for the character representations, so when I say "collectable" I simply mean how reasonable is this for me to collect. I get no thrill from the chase, and I saw from fairly early on (even pre-chases) that if all the focus goes to the high-rarity pieces then very soon one finds people opening boosters and if they don't have one of the uber-rare pieces in them they feel that they've been cheated... basically because in a sense they have, if one compares the cost of the booster to the resale value of its revealed contents. Chases kicked this up a notch or two.

I disagree. I'm in this very specifically for the playing, not the collecting.
Would quite rare, very high-quality alternate sculpt chases do anything for you in this regard? I like the concept of a "Wow! I got a chase figure! This is awesome!" element, but not the "Hiding game elements from most of the player base" element. Purely aesthetic chases seem like a good idea to me.

But right now I'm scouring youtube, searching for the song I have in my head. In the beginning, it sounds like a choir hitting a big dramatic note, then it brings it down a peg after that building up again. Think of the final confrontation in a battle, something along those lines is where it would be used in a movie. The beginning of it sounds very similar to the opening few seconds of this song. I can't find it right now!

You know what? Here's what I have in my head regarding a certain song: based on an old post of yours, whenever I see/hear mention of "Classical Gas," I think of you.
And right now what's in my head is Mrs. Soxolas pointing out, "Oh, sure, you can remember things like THAT, but when it comes to remembering [the most recent forgotten task], THAT you forget!!!"
And so it goes...
