pulled him in a sealed tonight and played him with Spidey & She Hulk. he stood behind She Hulk & Spidey. after Hulkmariner charged in on Shehulk and missed, Wolverine was able to lunge and exploit him! then She Hulk finished him off with her outwit/super strength combo. great figure for the points, i love the new fantastic four!
I don't know that he ever actually became part of the Alpha Flight team. James Hudson set him up to lead the team, and he was part of Department H or whatever, but I think he left before the team was set up.

This Wolverine is A-MA-ZA-ZING!!! Myabe just because I won a sealed using him, but still. The trait is so easy to activate, especially in sealed with Rick Jones, and A.I.M. Agent at less than 1/3 of your team... and I had a Hercules. He definately did most of the damage, 4 damage (Perplex) on Cosmic Hulk definately made him think twice, followed up by five (CCE) damage from Herc, he was done and that was enough to win it. First sealed win, YEAH!!
When attacking with Wolverine, do you have to be adjacent to an opposing character to activate the close combat attack to attack with Lunge, or can you use it as a tiny 2 space L&C Charge?
It's nice to see an official F4 version of Wolvie, and one that doesn't constantly heal on every turn! Perma-Lunge is fantastic (pun intended), and a short dial that allows him to heal to full is icing on the cake.
GSX First Class Angel just got a new BFF. And they come out to 120 points, perfect for 300 point X-Teams! Team them with GSX Xavier and watch the mayham. I've already seen him take down figures three times his point cost in sealed games (poor Cosmic Hulk). In golden age toss auto regen on him for flavor and you still have a low cost death machine at 82 points.

I think this may be my favorite Wolverine yet. @_@
Question: If he has the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak and uses Charge... you could activate Lunge by giving him a Close Combat Action (via Charge) even if he is currently not adjacent to an opposing character, right? Or, no? The rulebook seems to be leaning towards no but I'd like clarification, please.
If it does work... 6 square charge with a mini-restricted-leap/climb at the end plus a heavy object, exploit weakness, 12 AV and 6 damage ftw, I do believe. :)
His special power works just like the Lunge feat card. So yes, you can use it with Charge from the Gem. Charge is a power action that gives a move and close combat action. So, give him a power action, he moves half his speed, then immediately before being given the close combat action, he moves ANOTHER 2 squares.

That's Dr. Smart-@$$, thank you, I didn't spend eight years in insult college to be called Mister.
I have to bring back up Thorngren's question. If Wolverine isn't adjacent to an opposing character before the close combat attack, is he allowed to move 2 squares and attack or can he only make the movement IF he starts next to an enemy?
A great representation of Wolverine from the few comics where he was part of the "New" Fantastic Four (I don't know if early 90's counts as new anymore). My only complaint is that it takes forever to get him into position to use his Lunge special. Some Willpower on those clicks would've been nice so he could use his full move and then lunge. But hey, for a dial that's only 70 points that has EW and BCF I'm not complaining. And my complaint about his movement goes away when you add in the members of the actual fantastic four with flyers and TK options.
