The thing that sucks about comics is I am relatively young.....I missed out on a lot! I still hope to one day get the first appearance of dick grayson, Hal Jordan and Phoenix.... I should just keep dreaming though..
I worked at a comic shop all through college so I've owned a lot of good comics in my day. (First Wolverine, Punisher, Atom, etc) Sold a bunch to get my first car. Still have a few of my favorite Captain Marvels (Fawcett) and old Adventures with LOS. These days I prefer the collected stories in books so I can read them.
@Phant... is that the first appearance of Spectre or just an early appearance ?
Neither. For about 10 comics they brought back the Spectre in the 70's. The artwork was amazing. I saw the whole run at a swap meet but only had enough to buy 1 comic. So I bought the one with the coolest cover. http://www.comicvine.com/adventure-c...9-3105/?page=4
Man, I miss those awesome looking covers.

It wont let me see them since Im not a member of comicvine .
I love looking at cover art! Besides actually knowing the characters its the first reason I would pick up a new comic I didnt know about.
I am only 24 so I didnt grow up when Iron Maiden first came out, but I always see the interviews were people talked about picking Killers up because of the album art. Just think to myself, "Yep would have done the exact same myself"

I don't have very many valuable comics. I do have the first and second appearance of the Hobgoblin [no Tattoo in the first appearance issue], the first appearance of Venom, and the first appearance of Gambit.
Aside from that, nothing that special.
I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
My All New/UncannyX-Men vol.1 run extends from issue #121 - #544 (where Marvel simply halted it last year in order to relaunch it with the exact same title but starting over at #1 )
27 issues + Giant Sized X-Men #1 to go until my X-run is complete.
I have a few comics that are worth a nice chunk of change like 1st edition #1 Walking Dead and #1 Deadpool (Original series), but other than that not a whole lot. Now my dad on the other hand has tens of thousands of comics in our basement (no I am not exagerating [hope I spelled that right]). I went down a few years back and counted every comic box he had (each can hold up to 300 issues), and he had 60 at the time. They aren't all full because that would mean we have millions of comics and I know that is not the case! Anyways back then he probably had somewhere in the 18,000 to 20,000 range. Of course he still gets roughly 10 comics every wednesday so do the math there and in the end we have a TON of comics! He puts them all in sleeves with a cardboard backing above the ground.
I have some comics which are not valuable in a monetary sense but valuable to me personally, such as my Batman no.1 signed by Scott Snyder or my watchmen graphic novel signed by Dave Gibbons. I would like to pick up the first appearance of Wolverine as well as a lot of other classic comic books, e.g Detective Comics no.1 but I doubt I'll ever have the money.
The gems are Incredible Hulk (vol. 1) #4 - 6, which my wife (then girlfriend/fiancee) bought for me at various points. As soon as I get a house, those things are getting framed and going up on the walls.

Edit: I forgot to include my near complete (missing 10-20 issues) of MAD comic/magazine from #4 - 300
Well, I was close. I didn't feel like going to the closet to see the exact number and did a rough guesstimate. Thanks for the correction!!
Ahhhh... MAD. I "inherited" my younger uncle's collection from the 60s and 70s off him when he moved. Then I started collecting the mag in the 80s. Alfred E. Neuman you are a saint!!

Thanks!! I sold panicked and sold a bunch of my Amazon stock back then when it literally skyrocketed up 40+ points within the span of 5 days. I made a killing, but now I'm killing myself for panicking and selling because it's doing even better now. Oh well. I still have a nice chunk of Amazon that I hung on to.

I feel your pain. I can't imagine growing up in today's age where there is really no surprise factor any more because of the Internet. And, collectible comics just aren't produced anymore. Not like Golden and Silver Age books.

I'm the same way. But, with digital comics through Comixology. Those guys are great and are just so friendly when you talk with them.

I'm looking to downsize a lot of my UXM comics. Let me know what issues you need. If I have them and they are the ones that are making my cut list, I'm sure we can come to an agreement.
I've got first issues of Suicide Squad and The Question. Neither are worth very much, but they're favorites so they've got sentimental value. They are both framed and up on my wall (out of direct sunlight).
