You should have come to me with this question. Now I will make your comp teacher assign you a 10 page paper on the differences between Abilities and Powers and ways to prevent each from being countered.
(my wife is his comp teacher, and by "make" I mean "politely request after I make her dinner")

The weird thing about the vehicle symbol is that the vehicle rules aren't phrased as abilities granted by the symbol. The cards says, "A vehicle is a HeroClix character marked with the ... defense symbol". If the Vehicle stuff is rules that attach to the symbol, vs. an ability granted by the symbol, then you can't Outwit vehicle-ness.
But you can still Earthbound it away. So, yeah, this stuff will need to be addressed at some point. (I have missed a lot of time lately, so if this got ruled on while I was away, sorry.)

don't worry about it. on an unrelated note, you might wanna get out before i transform...
Reminds me of that scene from Project A-ko. YouTube isn't being generous, so here's my recollection:
A-Ko, ordinary schoolgirl with super-strength, is facing her archnemesis, evil genius B-Ko (the names are weird even by anime standards), who wants to stop A-Ko from... getting to school on time! The fiend! B-Ko's latest scheme involves her minions arriving in cars, that rapidly transform into GIANT FIGHTING ROBOTS! That... stand there. Doing nothing.
B-Ko clears her throat impatiently and a voice from inside the robot says, "I think we overlooked something in design..." Cut to a scene of her hapless minions all pinned down by mechanical parts after the cockpit transformed around them.
Fun spoilers!

Easy to miss while watching Project A-Ko is that the reason our heroine A-Ko has super strength is that she's the daughter of Superman and Wonder Woman. Not having permission from DC comics for this, they anime can't spell this out explicitly, but if you watch carefully, you can spot A-Ko's father reading the Daily Planet, and A-Ko's mother wearing bracelets and folding a familiar looking cape.

the highly under-rated clerks animated series made a similar joke with a transformer changing while a human driver was in the cockpit only resulting in turning into an over-the-top-anime-style wine press as redstuff sprayed outta the robot during the transformation

I actually just quoted a line from that show today (my wife told me she was doing chores for her breaks from grading papers). The anime scene from clerks was my first tought as well in this conversion ad well.

Serious suggestion: update EB/N so that it doesn't remove the [STEERING WHEEL] defense symbol. That way vehicles can stay vehicles and you don't end up with rules absurdities and mental gymnastics to rationalize those absurdities.
