I'll say I'm not upset that Janet's back, I think they've reached a point where they've gotten all the story they can from her death. My best guess is that the popularity of the Avengers cartoon is what brought her back.
Janet's body was offed in Secret Invasion, as a twist by the Skrull Pym. They explored her death on a few occasions, then Bendis pulls this out of the blue.
My favorite story with Dead-Jan was Pak's in Incredible Hercules, where all the dead heroes (add Banshee to the list if he's not there yet) are in Pluto's casino hoping to "hit the big one" so they can come back to life.
As far as Jan is concerned... well, Bendis killed her, so I guess he can bring her back. I thought her death was rather trite anyway, TBH.

It's time for Marvel to man up and kill off Wolverine and Deadpool.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Skurge the Executioner has been dead since 1985, and every writer since has known darned well that they best not mess with that. I mean, when a character has what is widely regarded as one of the best death scenes in the history of comics, that is not a thing that you try to undo on a whim. Look at that last page, for crying out loud. That's poetry, is what that is. Poetry, and a half-giant beating back the hordes of Hel with an M-16.
That was such an awesome issue. Walt's Thor was the best. That story and the one where he was fighting the World Serpent are my favorites. That being said, I've always had a hard time figguring out how to actually say 'Gjallarbru'. Anyone know the proper pronunciation?

Thats one character I wouldn't mind seeing back in the game. I was always a Reilly fan.
So how is Jan back? Last I read in Mighty Avengers she was a part of their Infinite Avengers Mansion as a giant clowing space lady, or am I remembering that wrong?

That’s my problem with the whole “death in comics” thing. The writers want to do a shocking story, so they kill off a beloved character – and let’s face it, Jan may not exactly have had A-List recognition, but as an Avenger almost constantly from the beginning, she absolutely was a beloved character. But the revolving door of the afterlife has made comic deaths meaningless.
When a true death was rare (as opposed to Dr. Doom’s castle blowing up and having the heroes blithely state “No one could have survived that” when of course every reader knows full well he did) and coming back from the dead was even rarer, these stories were shocking. Now they’re so common, they’re the new crutch. “How do we make this summer’s crossover event sell?” The answer is either to kill someone or bring someone back. Forget actually writing a good story.

But the Goliath is still legitimately dead, and was probably the most major of Civil War's deaths (Besides Cap, who was planned to resurrect from the beginning). Hank Pym even tried to put his soul in heaven or something wacky.
