That's a useful reference. But we're still left with how explicitly it needs to state that the transferred damage is still from the attack: is "damage from the attack" explicit enough? Is "the damage from the attack" that is dealt to Iron Patriot not going to be considered "damage from the attack" because it doesn't say "that damage is still from the attack"?
I'd say the text is adequately explicit if it's intended to create that result, but it isn't clear if that is the intent. Ultimately I'd say the question that tells us the right answer is "what is the intent?": was this supposed to be much the same as Master Mind or something different? With only what we have I'd be inclined to rule it does trigger, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that's not the "right" answer.

So, I'm going to change my view and say that that is enough for it to still be considered to have come from the attack. (or for it to meet the condition in the PG entry of stating otherwise.)
The two examples that were referenced were Mastermind and New Mutants ATA. Both were ruled to be transferring damage even though the word "transfer" is never stated in the powers.
However, those two effects are worded differently than Iron Patriot's bodyguard trait. The active player can choose to transfer the damage while IP's you must deal the damage to him. Plus IP's specifically says "damage from the attack" and not just whenever dealt damage.
BODYGUARD: At the beginning of the game choose a friendly character with the Celebrity, Politician, or Ruler keyword. When that character is adjacent to Iron Patriot, it can use Super Senses and on a result of 3-4, the damage from the attack is dealt to Iron Patriot instead.
MASTERMIND: When this character would be dealt damage, you may instead choose to have all the damage be dealt to a single adjacent friendly character with a point value less than this character's. Any additional effects of the damage dealt (knock back, penetrating damage, etc.) are applied to the character taking the damage. Damage dealt by this power is not an attack.
NEW MUTANTS: Whenever a character using this team ability would be dealt damage, you may give an action token to an adjacent friendly character using this team ability. If you do, deal all of the damage to that character instead.
