I'm thinking she will get a very quick errata to state she you cannot use Copycat on an opposing Copycat.... Otherwise, that in of itself breaks the game!

The rule you're thinking of governs building teams, not gameplay once the battle begins.
No, it doesn't. It is for the whole game.
2014 rulebook page 4:
UNIQUE CHARACTERS
If a character is Unique, only one copy of that character can be part of your force. Unique characters have a silver ring on their bases (older Unique characters may have a gold or bronze ring). A force can’t contain two Unique characters with the same name, the same set symbol, and the same collector’s number. If a character is not Unique, you may include as many copies of it on your force as you wish, within the constraints of the force’s build total.
Nothing about this being limited to just team building.
I assume the restrictions on unique characters on your force also apply to Prime characters? This is good to know anyway but don't stop potential shenanigans with Copycat as she is neither.

I don't think this is right. By your reasoning if I was playing a specific unique figure then if I had Mind Control I could never mind control that same unique figure if you also had it on your force.

Mind Control does not add the character to your force.
VP is correct.

I'll concede that VP is right about Uniques (I must have been thinking of Primes), however Mind Control makes a figure friendly to your force much the same as Copycat does, so I fail to see the distinction. If VP is right, as I think he is, you could not Mind Control another Unique if you have that Unique already on your force.

Mind Control makes a figure friendly to your force for the purpose of taking an action. Copycat transplant that figure onto your force.
I am not seeing them as similar. The rule VP quoted has been historically ruled to prevent replacements from allowing a duplicated Unique figure onto your build after force construction. As such, I know that he is correct, even if MC can be argued as a precedent, which I would argue against.

I believe that the ruling was you could not have more than one of the same unique on your force or sideline and that is why it can't be done.

That's what I think as well.
If the unique rule applies all the time, then you could also not use the new chase zombies and bring unique characters on your force if you KO them with virus tokens and you also have the same character on your force.
Not sure if you can break the game doing this but I am sure someone is going to try. Watch list anyone?
This is why I HATED the second watchlist! Everyone just freaks out when any unique power comes and cries (not whines, cries as in I cry out) for the watchlist! This is a cool and unique power that can make you have to build balanced teams instead of revolving around one fig. Sure she is weird and a few links will have to be worked out but the watchlist should have been a once only thing for those specific figures... Every set now people are gonna be saying "watchlist anyone" over and over again for every fig that they don't like or is good but not their play style...
Not trying to be mean or call you out but dude...

It takes away player build choice. That is the main problem. There is no limitation on how many of her can be played. In a 300pt team unless you build for 2 figures over 100pts you will be affected by her.
The problem is that in 300 you have Highfather hitting you up top and Copycat hitting you down low. The denial is way to strong. It sets up a negative lock down for team design.
