I've yet to see a deck (other than Scientist FTK, OTK, and Mirage Knight) that relies on Scientist to win. He's merely a support card. Nothing more. And yes, I'm saying that if someone uses a Scientist when you don't, they're at a slightly better position to win (should they draw it). Scientist can deal with any situation thrown at him, while a card that you may use in his place cannot. If the opponent has a card that can deal with ANYTHING while you don't, then by simple logic it's obvious they're better off . It's comparable to you using Fissure while the opponent is using Raigeki. Just a difference in power, that's all.
Oh yeah...I can see how paying a 1000 LP takes a lot of skill to deal with any situation. The simple fact of the matter is...the scientist has no place in a Jackal deck, simply because he doesn't fit the theme and he doesn't really support the Jackal or it's effect. And a fat lot of good the scientist did American duelists in the last World Championship Tournament when it was won by an asian duelist using a basic Chaos deck with no scientist.
Yes, and all those cards I listed in a previous post all take tons of skill to play? I can see how hard it can be to get a Pot of Greed off, or to return a Serpent from your grave to your hand in your Standby...>_>
And are you seriously putting Scientist down because the World Champ didn't use it in his cookie? Wow. That's just......very closeminded. If you don't like the card, like I said, don't use it. Makes no difference to me. But trying to make it sound like it's completely broken and cheap is just foolish. Especially when you contradict yourself in saying that it did no good for the American duelists at Worlds '04.....
the tournament was an example...and it is cheap and broken...you proved it by saying that it can deal with any situation...that being the case, then it just makes the game boring. Not to mention that most of the decks that are posted on here don't even get a second glance if they don't have the scientist in them. If all people care about is control over originality, fine, but don't sit there and try to make the claim that the scientist is not cheap just because you think it's the greatest card in the game. I pray that when the new ban list comes out next month, scientist is on it.
Scientist is neither cheap nor broken. He's a good card that can deal with any situation, given you have the LP. Scientist would most definitely be broken if the LP cost was lower or non existent. But since each time you use him you must pay 1000 LP, you have to be careful. Broken cards (like HFD or Raigeki)have no cost, with all benefit. Other cards (like BLS) have a small drawback that is GREATLY outweighed by the advantage gained by the card. Scientist may be good, but he still has a pretty stiff cost. The reason I feel he's the best monster in the game is because he's so darn versatile.
