Relinquished does not inflict effect damage because it occurs on the damage step. It's shared battle damage.
It's effect, "When your opponent's monster attacks this monster with an ATK higher than 'Relinquished', the equipped monster is destroyed instead of 'Relinquished'. Any Life Point Damage you receive from the attacking monster when 'Relinquished' is equipped is also inflicted on your opponent."
And with Wave Motion Cannon, it's the main EFFECT of the card, so Barrel Behind the Door should go through.
Neither of your assumptions are correct. First Relinquished's effect IS effect damage, just because it happens during the "damage step" doesn't mean its battle damage, it IS STILL effect damage, and STILL viable to use Barrel Behind the Door because IT IS a Counter Trap.
Wave Motion Cannons damage infliction IS NOT the "main effect" it has no main effect, there is no card with a main effect (in fact there is no such thing as main effect), it is simply the way the card functions and because of its functionality unreachable for BBtD.

how sad..... go to the official website. heck, e-mail them like i did.
What are you debating?? Or better yet, you e-mailed UDE in search for what? An explanation of Wave-Motion Cannon or the fact that there is no such thing as "main effect"?
Either way, Wave-Motion Cannon it's already explained, there is no reason for anymore discussion about it, "main effect" is not a term, there's ONLY "effect" and that's it.
Ahhh, I love using WoRL. Only problem is keeping it up.
That's where curse of royals come into play...
Not really Curse of Royal...since it's very restricted in what it can stop...ONLY stops Magic and Traps that would just destroy 1 Magic or Trap Card. Only cards that do so that are used a lot are Mystical Space Typhoon and Dust Tornado.
Stuff like Mobius, Heavy Storm, Giant Trunade and such don't get affected. You'd be better off using more generalized m/t protection like Fake Trap for it.
I was just using Cor as an example. I only used it a couple of times in my zombie deck. I'd much rather use cards like Magic Drain, or dark deal in my dark world deck to counter any spell effects. They work really well together considering that MD either negates their spell, or makes them give up two. Dark Deal is just such an evil card  . 1000 live points is a small cost for a full Gold or Silva effect, IMO.
IMO, despair is the best zombie, hands down. Summoning it with call of the mummy is usually my first move during a duel. What do you think are probably the staples for a zombie deck (monster-wise)? I'm still a little unsure.
Yeah, I already run those. Book of life is one I believe should be in all zombie decks. My biggest surprise is that Spirit Reaper hasn't been banned, or at least limited!
Dark Dust is another one that works in my deck. Fusioh Richie is just too much of a hassle. Too bad he needs so many requirements, otherwise that would work wonders with call of the mummy.
He's not really TOO difficult to bring out...he just requires a little extra effort...which, frankly, a lot of people are not willing to try. Also since he's not really "necessary" given Book of Life and such.
I don't really use Dark Dust Spirit in my Zombie Deck. I keep it sided most of the tne time.
And Spirit Reaper doesn't really have any reason to be restricted or banned unless "everybody uses it" counts as a reason.
Fushioh Richie would be a fantastic monster if he didn't have such a difficult summoning requirement. His effect is one of my favorites. That jerk Great Dezard just doesn't fulfill his requirements often enough. When Fushioh does hit the field it is a blast though (unfortunately I have only summoned him a handful of times :p )
That's why I like to mix Spellcasters and Zombies together sometimes...Magician's Circle easily gets Dezard to the field and killing monsters with him shouldn't be TOO difficult afterwards (at least after you kill 1)
