Ok could someone clarifiy what the hell the Word of Blake Jihad was, and who are the Blakists. I recently just had the BTech and MechWarrior universe hit me last year so I am a little new to the whole story...
ComStar was/is the organization founded way back in the Star League days, that oversaw/sees the HPG grid and interstellar communications. A guy named Jerome Blake was instrumental in ComStar's early days, a genius when it came to HPG communications. As time went on, a faction grew within ComStar, fanatics who had some serious ideas of just how ComStar should be, which were quite a different story from how they were. They took Jerome Blake as their "god" since ComStar at the time was a quasi-religious organization, with technicians using "chants" to help align machinery and using HPG communications stations as temples. ComStar was intstrumental in stopping the Clan Invasion, but the splinter group grew more and more dissatisfied with the way ComStar was going. They formed Word of Blake, also known as the Wobbies, or Blakists, and then subsequently held the Jihad, a war against the entire Inner Sphere for control. The Jihad went bad on most of the Inner Sphere powers, and was a major catalyst for the formation of the current Republic. Devlin Stone met David Lear in a Blakist re-education camp, for example, on Kittery. They broke out, started a rebellion, and took over enough planets to convince the Great Houses that the Republic was a worthy experiment.
For source material, you want to read through the BattleTech novel series, 65 books. There is also a 6 book MechWarrior series. Some info and background in a couple of the MW:DA novels, Ghost War and Target of Opportunity.
You can also look to www.btencyclopedia.com for info. Alot of the actual stuff is in the BattleTech Source Books, made for the RPG/figures game, and you can find that stuff at www.classicbattletech.com
Thou shalt critical miss when rolling for rear-arc shots on shutdown mechs.
I'll just go and be an all-defying heretic when it comes to that rule. When I shoot into an enemy's rear arc, I hit more often than not. And everyone knows that critical misses are usually thrown when you're trying to hit a Peasant Company with your Bounty Hunter.
Nice recap by the way, Xyberbratt. My compliments!
lol, you can make ref to "it" or "Him" or my favorite "her" wich is the more logical choice in my opinion, but if you use the name. that when people get all high and mighty and offended, same as when you talk about that foliage? or a short green thing that also refers to a goverment entity of questionable origin not without credible stupidity....

...when firing into their rear arc. This is also known as the "BOAB" (broadside of a barn) shooting technique.
