Bshugg- No goats or chickens, sadly. It's a worm farm. But hey, if you like fishing, I could hook you up with a lifetimes' supply of night crawlers .... :D
So what you are saying about this dude is, for the price of a * corrupted priest, you get all that? Sweeeet. I really must look into obtaining one.
(Just my darned luck ... both times they give me the LE5 for running the marquee events, it was a stinking Heirajet. What a dork! Of course, I did trade one off to get my beloved Elroodon, and sold the other one for $50, but still.... I think I'd rather have the gunner!!)
I've got them all and i have been looking for that LE. From the start I have been using Techun and the Striker in am GA army. I wanted away to finish off 1 fig in a turn other than a shade. Techun stats are too good not to use him. He (unlike the striker) can take a pretty good shot and still scare the #### out of people. Most people feel if they can get the striker past bound then they have him. I have yet to try the Cnt Camp and the damage is nice but after you lose charge its a rough life getting away. CPs are great and the defend is more of a bonus for those odd time you'll need it then a constant plus. CP act as clean up hitters and the ability to heal one's self is a plus.
It's funny Borg, I was going through some old army lists in preparation for a tournament this weekend and I came across exactly this army. I think I put it together as my first attempt to get a Priest in there. I think I dismissed it due to the lack of speed and the fragile nature of the priest but I think that, given the nature of the heavy hittters, it would be easy to keep him safe. I also think that, if your enemy was to finally get to and kill the Priest, he would have to pay heavily to do so.
The biggest problem I have found when playing GA against a skilled opponent, who is playing defensively, is getting off that first shot without taking too much damage in return. I think the addition of the healer allows for much more aggressive play. Given the hardiness of the Techun, this build allows you to go toe toe with the enemy for a little while before needing to bug out.
It is like guerilla warfare with a light tank. Just imagine the ability to do 9 damage in a single turn... Then we can just run like cowards or turtle for the rest of the game... No need to press that advantage now is there? (For those of you who are wondering, that is indeed sarcasm) :D
Took exactly this army to a tournament on Sunday and swept. The inclusion of the Corrupted Priest allows a much more aggressive play style. It was also devastating to be able to do 9 damage with 2 actions.
The Techun provided an incredible overlapping field of fire. It also allowed the Striker to probe deeply. I would move the Striker up a little less than 12" in front of the Techun with the Priest a little less than 10" back from the Techun. The 'krugg was either kept a little under 6" from the Striker as a body guard or kept back to make the Priest a less attractive target. If anyone was stupid enoug to base the Striker it left me with a few options. I could either attack with the Sriker and charge with the 'krugg. Successfully break and hit the opposing figure with the Techun and the 'krugg (or just the Techun). Even if I failed the break, the 'krugg could do 4 damage from a charge.
This army was never in trouble. It felt a lot safer with a strong healer in there.
I think I would put a * or ** Priest in every GA build from now on.
Hey Bshuug, I have no farm but the okane that could (maybe) buy you goats and chickens ;). Wanna strike a deal? Just PM me or mail me with your offer if it's decent .... it'll be done ;)
(Sorry ... this might be out of place I don't know ...)
By the way, I am really awed by the fact that GA evolved so rapidly ;). Now this 300 pts version seems to rock liike a B***H but what is the input for the 200 pts version? Is there a GA 4.0 for the 200 pts as well?
Thanks Borg/Hitman for the marvelous ground work you so kindly make for all of us ....
Diabolick, we've been toying with this idea alot on Bshugg's thread over on Battle Plans, I think it's called 'Anyone done any testing with a 200 point GA, please report', or something like that.
I would put a link in here, but Ive never quite figured out how to do that.
Bottom line is, I don't think we've managed to come to anything conclusive yet about what a good 200-pointer would include. Just lots of ideas swirling around.
Why don't you head over there and toss in your 2¢ worth, if you can manage to find the thread?
I'm kinda .... well ... as my post record must show .... a NEWB!!! :P. Anyway, I actually NEVER PLAYED the game YET ;).
But, I have gotten all those figs that you are talking about (well Techun is somehow hard to find and I don't want to spend 50$Can on it so .... but I'll get it soon no matter what :P). I liked the idea of a guerilla army (well the guerilla style ... or sniper idea ;P). As a matter of fact, I would never have gotten into it if I didnt discovered your nice Arch cuz I only liked the solonavis and well everyone were saying that they were .... humm..... too costly? (TOO PHAT :P).
Anyway, to get back to the main topic, putting my 2 cents in there would surely get only as sh*tload of flames coming from the other ppl as : 1) I never played a SINGLE game yet :P; 2) DON't event know ALL the rules there is to MK (still am trying to figure out how obstacle works ;) (and by the way .... they don't sell fat patch of shallow water .... so how do you know it exists????; and 3) I wouldn't feel comfy trying to tell ppl what I think when the only thing I did is read up all the threads you wrote guys (which is quite interesting :P). I mean ... I could sum it up for sure ... but I wouldn't be able to tell which fig would be better (as I know almost none of them ;P).
And finally, yeah ... I'll probably get my ### whopped the first couple of times ... .but hey ... I'm a power gamer .... (Like in magic .... I don't play casually .... I play to crush my opponent, so yeah I'll get a couple of loss but then ... I'll learn from them ... and I'll be sure to crush him next time ;).
Oh well that was a long rant for nothing right? Sumi masen minna-san ;P (Sorry all).
Welcome to the game, man. You gotta start somewhere, so its cool. We were all newbs at one point or another.
As for terrain, no they don't sell it, you have to make it yourself.
If you go to the top of your screen and click on 'downloads', then scroll to the bottom of the page, you can see all the nice little standard terrain templates that are approved for tournament use.
If you happen to have a printer that works (mine never does  ) you can even print said terrain onto a piece of paper and cut it out for your gaming pleasure.
I've managed to get my hands on some styrofoam from work, and have a half-hearted project going to make some 3-D standard terrain, maybe I'll get it finished one of these days. :p
Finally, if you have any questions about the game or your armies, feel free to PM me, or email me at [email protected] , and I'll be glad to help you out.
Most of the other guys on here are pretty cool too, and they'll lend a hand if you ask them nicely (Except Barrel, he's a mean sonofagun ... :D JUST KIDDING!!!)
As for being flamed, don't sweat it. The only reasons you could get flamed for are:
1) Saying something incredibly stupid (not asking a newb question).
2) Coming up with a concept that kills alot of elves. :D
3) Flaming someone first.
4) Having the temerity to disagree with someone who is in the hall of heroes.
5) And as a general disclaimer, posting anywhere on any thread on any given day.
(There, I think that about covers it!)
Anyway, good luck with the game, and may your dice always roll 6's.
By the way - what part of our great country do you hail from?
Hitman gave some good pointers (and everyone else above too)...and he is right about the terrain.
Tournaments generally require the "official" flat terrain that you can print out..but you may find that alot of places play with 3D stuff (like Hitman I make some of my own too...just more fun that way I think :D ). I also like a "felt"/cloth version that is easy to travel with and a little more durable than paper.
...as the rules say though, you can make your terrain out of whatever is handy (cups as blocking terrain, books for elevated, etc....) so don't stress over it. :p
...bTW you 199 pt looks good (and familiar);) and should kick some but if used well.
...one of the "complaints" about GA armies were that they tended to be the same figures over and over. This is mostly true if you stick by the orginal Guidelines Hitman & Borg set up - but those are only suggested starting points. And really, this is true of alot of other "winning" armies as well.
So get those figures together and go out and have some fun with them....you'll know alot more after a few battles :p
Narcissus: Yup I liked Techun & Striker combo too! Especially since Techun had a slightly better attack value...helps take the edge off. :D
Now .... don't head for the trench when I say it ok?!? ..... Ok .... I come from ...... ..... Quebec City (in the Quebec PROVINCE). Now ... I said it .... Happy now?
Hey .... Where are you Shadowbane?
LOL ... No seriously, I come from Quebec city ... Lovely city by the way, one with much history to it. If you hop on for a trip to the eastern side of Canada, I strongly suggest you at least come and visit quebec city.... Magnificient I tell you :P. Heck ... If I get good enough, we could even MAYBE (remember ... I have to get good now :P) play a game or 2.... ;). Anyway, that's it for now
And yeah ... the idea is from what has been posted ;) (told you ... I'm a pjower gamer so ... might as well play good armies ;P). It's like deckbuilding in MTG ... I'm #### at it .... but playing it ... I luve it :P).
put #### when I used a word relative to the feces .... that sound a lot like crop....???? That's censorship? Looks to me like cr*p is kinda soft no?. (well.... never actually touched it mind you ... I meant in the hardcore trash talk ladder ;P).
Hi diabolick, I'm from Edmonton Alberta (alot less history here...but still a nice place :p )
The #### are just there to help eliminate the over use of harsh explicatives - a welcome concession if it allows the younger generation to use the boards for their input too....
Isnt there a town called Fort McMarry or something like that in Alberta? I have a friend who studied over here .... He told me there were not much to do in Edmonton ... beside drinking... Wanted to have your input :). Still, he is a good lad and don't think he meant it in the 'Ghost City' and the province is just plains kinda way.... just that for youngsters there might not be plenty to do :P. (Well he forgot to tell me that outdoor sports must be quite fun in your part :P... I mean ... you got the mountains just a short distance from you ... and god would I love to go rockclimbing in there. The ski is also quite terriffic I heard (even if costly :( ). Oh well, thanks for the info on the ### .... I feel its ok since young ppl might be reading :) (even though I'm quite sure they might think that these ### are words I could not even think about ;). Anyway, thank you for the input.
By the way, 6 posts already ... Whooowhoo!..... Unfortunately... they have only small relation to the MK world :(. Gomen I'll shut up now :P.
