If you played chargers in the back it would probably take 3 to cover the back and that would cost around 100 points. Thats a lot of points that won't be able to see much battle.
but yes, you could just Weapons Master my Mancatcher, but then my War Wagon would come up and hungry hungry hippo your tiny heiny into next week, or my Storm Golem would shoot you full of holes. Nice trade, 33 points of Altem for 16 of mine.
C'mon Rjamakur, do you think that I have never played this game before, or that I am ONLY bringing three Mancatchers to a 300 point battle? Please, think before you type!! :D :D
dwarf15: actually you could do it with one, although i'd recommend 2 light cavailiers. If the Altem doesn't move within 7" then double charge for 14, so you can at least base it. If it breaks, it breaks, oh well, it would have broken from an amazon anyways. Since theres 6 inches a lone cav can't cover, you would need to cover the area it appears your opponent is going to. If he moves up 6", he can only toss to the center. If he moves up 6" to a side he can only toss to that side. This is why i would recommend 2.
RobRob: I was just replying to the earlier post that said two catchers would be enough. I disagreed just like you did. Perhaps it is not I who should think before I post. Also, how did your stormy turn to look at me? I'm behind it remember? And your warwagon? Where did that come from? Sounds like you now hav 200+ Points facing the wrong direction while my forces attack you from behind.
So lets see, I fling an Altem
You: Turn Storm Golem, Move the Wagon back, Move a catcher. Ok, great. Now instead of attacking, i realize that there is real threat to my Altem and I break. Now your army is looking in the wrong direction and susceptible to attack AND it has an action on it.You'll most likely pass.
A detonating zombie lands right behind storm golem, and a blade Golem comes in to base contact with the front. A scorpem F/Ls your golem support. Now what?
Attack the Blade G? Shockwave for 4...twice. Stormy' hurting. War Wagon? Takes all your actions to get it back to the battle.
Once there it also comes under fire, and soon your army has fallen apart.
Using your main attacking force on the Altem is *not* a good idea. Base it with more than one mancatcher (or charge it) and you'll be fine.
Rj, you are quite a piece of work. You seem to enjoy creating scenarios in your head that are terribly one sided, working only to your favor. I admit that fantasizing is a useful and necessary part of life, but please, in the future, keep your ridiculous thoughts and arguments to yourself.
You are hereby no longer allowed to reply to my posts.
RR-I think you're taking this a little too personally. My "ridiculous arguement" was based of a statement you yourself supplied.

What I was asking was how effective your army would be if you have 66% of it facing the wrong direction.
All of my "fantasic" scenarios are based on *actual* playtesting games I have done with my army. The scenarios I create do work in my favor because the ML army is designed to set them up so they work in my favor. You brought in 2 very expensive units to the equation that had not previously been mentioned and then said you would send them both at the Altem after the mancatcher was killed. I said you would be susceptible to attack if your army is facing the wrong way, and you called this a "fantastic scenario".
I ask you this again. I kill your mancatcher. Now what?
Okay, Rj, so you will not go away, even though I revoked your right to comment on my posts. I will ask you again to stop replying, but I know that your ego will not let you.
I have since ascribed to you the voice of the comic book shop owner from the Simpsons, as you will never be wrong or even try to understand what other people are saying. I think it is quite fitting, as it lends the necessary ridiculousness to your posts.
The thread was designed to discuss the possibility of using Magic Levitation to get the messenger off of the board very quickly. Yes?
Some of the more intelligent replies to this post dealt with this supposition quite well, bandying about the pros and cons of performing the ML. It was then put out that by yourself in a startling (sarcasm there, because you apparently do not understand the concept) revelation, that the Guardsman (be he Utem or Altem) could actually ATTACK someone. Wow, gosh, you are terribly clever (sarcasm again).
Perhaps you can start a thread somewhere else called "An Altem Guardsman can beat up an Amazon Mancatcher"...it sounds like a good read.
