ok let me get this right. yall are complaining that the figure with the greatest possible range is to EASY to beat. i'd bet $20 that if they gave him a better defence that these exact same people would be complaining that he is to strong and is "broken."
Acutally, we did that for 3 months last summer. There were itleast 10 "corpheus is broken and will destory MK" threads that had 20+ pages of replyes...each! It was all anyone would talk about for 2 months strait. Then people played him and discovered he's not as snassy as first thought. End of converstaions. Now we have the "corpheus sucks" threads running around.
Ok all, I use Corphy on a regular basis, here are his pluses: He can capture figures easily, and with bound, move quickly to your starting area, if you need someone to take out an annoying healer or necromancer, he is the man to do it, with an effective range of 22 inches, he is a target on the board, keep some crystal protecters around him and your looking at a sick army. Yes if he gets hit he drops quick, but thats the breaks, remember he is ment for Dungeons not regular Mage Knight.
Corpheus is good if you use him right, but he is very fragle. you usually use him with a regular healer you can go back to,and if a figure bases him you get a break away of anything but a one. but if he gets smacked by 4 clicks he's toast.
To be passionate about both sides of the argument, Yes Corpheus has a glass jaw and the setbacks he poses for tournament play and army building is a pain in the hieney. His speed becomes more of a liability thn an advantage. There is almost no non-unique that can back him up. Although, I'm sure that there will be other players out there that would argue (just for argument's sake) that Corpheus is a solid tourney piece. I would say that after my experiences with Corphey, I'm better off using a more efficient bound engine like the Striker or AmDrac, 128 points is just a pain to build an army around.
I remember all of those "Corpheus is broken" threads. I didn't believe them then, and I don't now. But he is a force to be reckoned with. Mine only died once while I was playing him. and that is only because I got cocky and underestimated a couple of zombie hounds that had gotten too close. The guy pushed them and got a 9 for both attacks. Corphy took 4 damage. He escaped, but fell to two fell reapers because my medicine got a critical miss on the heal roll.
Corpheus is useless in official/sanctioned tournaments.
Oh, did I mention I play in Japan.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here, any figures or sets that weren't released by the Japanese distribution company aren't normally allowed in sanctioned play. Other "useless" figures include Bakus, all of the Rebellion LEs, all of the Lancers mounted LEs, the entire Dungeons set (Pyramids is OK though), all of the Heroic quests, and the Great Fire Dragon.
