Originally posted by NobleWarrior However, if you do decide to play Domains you must bring a number equal to the number of rounds minus 1. This means if you choose to play Domains you 1) must play domains in each of your matchs except 1, and 2) the blank card (i.e. relic or constructed terrain) is simply a "place marker" in your deck to mark that you are not playing a domain (i.e. you don't actually have to pay for the relic or play it) ?
I read it as saying it's a placeholder -- you can't use a free relic in place of a domain. Basically the new rule is saying you can bring 0 to # of rounds - 1 domain cards...presumably the placeholder cards are there just so your opponent won't necessarily know when you're out of domains.
If I'm understanding it correctly, this sounds good to me.
I've been one of the most vocal & critical posters about some of these new rulings, so I want to take this opportunity to thank WizKids for addressing and hopefully correcting this problem. Of course this is why I complain, WizKids has to be made aware of a problem they either didn't anticipate or weren't even aware of. From past history, if the players have a valid complaint, WizKids will at least look into it. Now keeping my fingers crossed on formations and charge.
The only down side is now I'm confused. Is the only way to play a relic now is from your "hand" and only for one turn? This wouldn't seem to work, if you have to pay the points for the relic, your army will be short every other round. If you don't pay the points, that seems a little unbalanced. I'm sure there's something I'm missing though.
The reference in the rule about the relic or CT card is just as a placeholder so your opponent does not know if you're playing a domain that round, or how many domains you've played. The relic or CT card in your hand does not enter play at all.
Relics that are equiped to your uniques stay with them through the tournament.
I wanna quote Pulp Fiction and The Wolf here, but I don't wanna get banned. You can find the quote pretty easily online - it's in response to Vincent Vega commenting that the car they just cleaned a body out of looks pretty good. Anyone who's seen it knows what I'm talking about.
That said, I applaud the ruling. Now I can go play in tournaments! Yeay!
I'm just not about to go su- Oh, wait, I wasn't going to quote that. It's just that this was such an obvious fix. No contention. Why would you argue to the contrary? Sure you want the domains, but if your opponent doesn't have one, do you care? Not at all! You love it!
Now can we get back to solving some of the more pressing concerns? And no, I don't mean anything that has to do with 1.0 figures - I am content with this being a new game. I mean getting information and clear, concise rulings to the WLs so they can run a tournament effectively. I hate to be picky, but I'm trying to get people back into MK, and I can't when no WL in the greater Portland area (all 2 of them or so) understands fully how to play the game.
BIg, big improvement! I have purchased a starter, and about 10 boosters. I have exactly 3 domains from all that - and none that match my style. So prior to this ruling I couldn't play in much of a tournament. Now I can. Yay!
but as i read it it you bring Domain cards and didnt bring proxy cards in your hand then you have to play a Domain card no matter what... so if you dont proxy you gotta play or not bring any at all
am i right... let me tell ya after the marquee this weekend there are going to be some cards that i will use like Darkness when i was fighting the new 2-Headed Drac (leveled the playing field for my Starsdawn)
So, you can either not bring domains. Or you can bring domains equal to the number of round -1? Good thing we usually only play a few rounds at my venue.
Now that WK has the Domains situation resolved, what about those overdue Conquest 2.0 rules? Turkey day is tomorrow and it would be nice to see this situation resolved before the big holiday season kicks off so that doesn't get used as an excuse for more delays...LOL! Plus, if a great Conquest 2.0 ruleset comes out it will help the retailers sell off their stocks of MDF's, Titans and Castle pieces as Xmas gifts.
That's something I am very much in favor of since a happy retailer who sells out is more likely to order new Titans/MDF's if any are to be produced.
