Very nice piece. Even though I've imagined Snow's remake as a crazy powerful 18 w/ ranged damage 5 piece, this piece is powerful yet economical at 88 pts. With Bloody Thorns, it's like he starts off with a 13 ranged attack. Give him his Rifle, and that jumps up to 16 ; even if his ranged damage gets cut in half, that's still pretty scary.
Seeing as this is Snow, this confirms that old characters from the storyline will be appearing in the set. While we're at it, why not make a few predictions on which sculpts will make storyline characters:
Bladesmith Draconum= Tyrsis
Possessed Draconum= Denkai
Regal Draconum= Escu
Order of Uhlrik= Rax Coldstone?
Darq the Corrupt= Darq the Corrupt (Hey, it went that way w/ Elydia why not with the head Vladd?)
Just about any hero= his/her/its self
Troll Zombie= Huhn brought back from the dead (Hey, we can dream can't we)
This set looks pretty cool. Though money will be tight for me (I need a new car and have to pay college tuition) I'll try to somehow manage to get ahold of some Nexus boosters.
Nice review ... it would be nice to see similar reviews regularly.
88 points seems a bit much for a set piece figure with 12" range, even with Blood Thorns. He has all the right stats for a sniper (I would like to see a bit longer range), but I think I would invest another 3 points for Rava, or 4 points for Councillor Laurel who both have bound, or if on a budget, ** Rivengaurd Archer. These 3 give you big bound which effectively outguns Snow.
Without Arching Fire you can simply advance on him behind a blocking harrasser. Without Pathfinder if he's in Hindering Terrain he will not be able to beat a hasty retreat.
Finally, I don't think I would want to put Snow's Fuser Rifle on him as mentioned. Without the ability to Magic Enhance anymore it seems silly to invest 88 points plus the cost of the Rifle for 2 clicks of damage. You can get the same effect using Golem Killer.
In a 300 point game I think we will find better options, but in a higher point game it might be fun to play him as a high priced gun turret.
With HIS Fuser Rifle and a support figure fielding the Crown of Khamsin, Snow's damage jumps back to 4 (infiltrating into the center of the field, every figure is within Point Blank range). And with Stealth/Bloody Thorns subfaction ability, who needs bound?
Support him with those d**ned awesome Dwarven Forgemages*** and a leadership or Cloak of the Martyr figure.
Now, all of these weren't important to the storyline, but some were. I particularly would like to see Kerraii (she is the only one with her own book) & Oakes.
Good ole Snow : usable stats [especially with the Crown and/or in bigger games], known sculpt which is also more ok and 53 other uniques to go with Nexus!
And one chance less that the Possessing Spirit will be remade ..
Bah, I don't like "campers" any more in MK than I do in Counterstrike. As long as Snow is camping in hindering, he's tougher to get to but he ends up with a -1 to attack (doesn't it make sense that Pierce should ignore the hindering terrain modifier?). If he camps in concealing, then he's got full accuracy, but anyone can get to him.
For just 3 points less than Rava, Snow really offers a LOT less.
Noble:
He's got a single rank of Arching Fire (according to the stats)
Bound really isn't everything; statc range can be just as effective. I just don't think an 88pts. figure can have that drastic of a stat drop after one click. And a 14" range couldn't hurt either.
Originally posted by Munson_kl279 The stats and the sculpt match nicely but my question is, how is he supposed to use Bracers of the Ranger as stated in the sneak peek?
Snow is a great piece and one that I would definately use if I were playing a ranged BPR army. And really, 88pts isn't that expensive. You get an 11 attack, that drops to 9 which is still respectable, a -2 def to targets, and the ability to shoot anywhere within 12" regardless of where you left him facing last turn. How about a combo like this: Snow, Enchanted Fuser Rifle (I know it's not HIS fuser rifle), and Cloak of Shadows. That's about 125pts adn you get a 13 ranged attack (virtual 15 w/ Bloody Thorns), arcing fire, stealth (always wonderful to have w/ infiltrate), and the regular 4 ranged damage w/ pierce. You would need an 8 to hit the 23 def. Not too bad at all.
I'd pair Snow with Uncle Guns. That way, you have a bounding :sword: type bounder who can be a body gaurd for Snow. Guns and PoD is still under 75 pts. So the pair, decked out this way, is just shy of 200pts. You still have 100pts for one of them great forgemage healers and about 2 more figures or 1 more figure and the Crown. I'd take a :wand: type as a token counterspeller and another :sword: type as this army would have anough range threats already.
