according to the card's text, it only seems to work during the other player's attack step, such that it can not be used to prevent reinforcements as said in Metagame.com article...
did I miss something???

Hey wow, your right. The card clearly states that it works only on a player during that player's attack step. So that means it should only affect the attacking player's characters not the defenders thus they should still be able to reinforce. Looks like either metagame didn't read the card close enough or the card text is wrong for that scan....
still it's pretty damn powerful

It means nothing, but that's the point since I believe in the comic the tower of babel made everyone not able to understand each other.....
well, I guess the scan is wrong...
or maybe not...because if it could also prevent reinforcements, it would be really, really powerful...maybe too powerful...ok, Burn Rubber still works...

I think its not suposed to make sense and ake you confused :p
While I'm not to certain about the Tower of Babel/Babel Tower's place in the comic continuem, the mythology behind it (and I saw this all loosely), was that a King used his followers all over the world to construct a tower to reach Heaven, and the Ruler of Heaven made it so all of the followers spoke different languages so they couldn't understand each other and the Tower was not complete. Theres a few different variations on the story, but I think it was suposed to be a story of sorts to explain why the Earth has different ethnicities, languages, etc. You could probably Google up some more information. Tons of sites and great reading out there.
Uh....not as great as people or BDM thought it was.
No, I think you are correct, along with my suspicions about the card and the article.

On turns when you have the initiative, this will be a handy card to have. After your opponent has braced for your attack by arranging his or her defenses in the best way possible, you can erase all his or her hard work with a single twist of the plot...
...But then I realized that could actually work to your advantage. On turns when Valeria is played, your opponent's 3-drop and lower characters in the front row can't be stunned. Normally, he or she will rely on the 4-drop Invisible Woman to reinforce all the FF characters. With Tower of Babel, you can sit there and pound on a single character for attack upon attack and let the breakthrough damage pile on, essentially negating the deck’s combo.
According to the card's text, you can't do what BDM says since if its YOUR attack step, the card's effect would only effect YOUR characters - if they were not of the League of Assassins affiliation. The card DOES NOT effect the defender's characters, as depicted in BDM's little example. So 4-drop Invisible Woman still would reinforce regardless whether Tower of Babel is active this turn.
I really wish someone would edit these articles (especially BDM's) because there have been some GLARING mistakes in a lot of them.
Also, BDM is PROBABLY referring to Four Freedoms Plaza, NOT Baxter Building. However, with Tower of Babel in use for the turn, you would not be able to use Baxter Building in your Attack Step. Whoop dee do.
I noticed that too. I figured that the card they reviewed may have been different from the card shown. Oh well, someone's not paying attention. DeQuan has also had some goofs in articles as well. What can you do?
yes, it would be great to know whether BDM made a mistake, or whether the scan was incorrect...
I was very puzzled when I was reading the preview as what he said didn't make sense to me with respect to the card text...but as English is not my mother language, I was not totally sure I had understood everything...even though it looked pretty clear to me...
well, as someone once said:"to err is human..."

JLA: Tower of Babel is a mini-series in which Ra's Al Ghul constructs a modern day Tower of Babel, which does exactly as it's mythological counterpart does and steals language and written word from the planet, so no one can understand each other. When Al Ghul activates the tower, every thought and speech bubble that every person says comes out to something along the lines of: "SgQtcZX, BRhfxry? GAslemz, Qbalaf..." Exactly, babble.
"Babble... It's all babble..." - Superman, JLA #44
Anyways, it's a great, albiet AWESOME mini-series in which Batman plays a pivotal role in destroying... er... I don't wanna ruin it for you all... If you wanna pick it up and check it out for yourselves, it's JLA issues #43-46, or just pick up the Tower of Babel trade paperback...
"Crytoquip in the paper?" I'm not sure about that, Bizarro... I'm looking at the comic right now, and it seems less "hidden message" and more "randomly smashing the keyboard and seeing what comes out of it." Though I could be wrong.
This one is a keeper, boys and girls. Even limiting its effect to the attack step doesn't stop it from being one of the most powerful and disruptive plot twists in the game’s short history. As you can see, its effect could be devastating during the recruit step: “Sorry, did you want to play that Thing, Heavy Hitter? Maybe next time.”
The card clearly states that the characters do not have a team affilition during their attack step, it mentions nothing of the recruit step. He must hav made a mistake, or I am just dense.
Yeah, it was either an oversight on the authors part or perhaps he was previewing a different version of the card. It is possible that the card he wrote about wasnt the finalized version.
I just reread the card and it states EACH players Attack Step! Not target players attack step. It lasts until the end of both your turns so during his attack step your team still doesn't have a team affilation.
