You gain very little from testing with people who aren't good.
WORD homey!!
That's so true. When I first started I was stuck only playing these guys and I was able to start winning but my game truly evolved when I started to play on-line. Now these guys sometimes hate when I show up because I can usually plow through them. One time I was playing X-Stall and I took this guy to turn 13 just because. I had Avalon and I just kept bringing back Phoenix Force. Then I got bored and dropped Imperiex. :)
I tend to agree with those that like the PC "kicking off" the season. I however would like it if they also switched 10k's to follow the format of PQ's. It makes it easier to find a game (at least with the people I test with.)
If half the people are gearing up for Indy (DC Modern) and the other half are gearing up for PQ's or 10k's that are Golden, it gets real hard to find the people that want to test for the format you are planning to play in.
I'm not a pro by any stretch, but it's hard for me to stay focused enough as it is on this game, let alone without having to feel out meta's for two different formats at once.
To my mind the entire tournament schedule should follow the current season's format. It seems "skitzo" (and boring) to me having the 10k's be the odd man out for half of the year. The 10k's become blah.
Originally posted by EvilBaby That is ridiculous. You seem to be saying that it was the intention of UDE to screw those people who live in areas where the game is not the most popular. Of course, that's impossible since UDE has no control over the levels of popularity in particular regions.
Reading Comprhension....go get some. I have not spoken once about the intentions of UDE. My points have not been about the intentions of UDE..UDE is a company it has one intention..to make money. I am only discussing a structure which seemed odd to me.

Not to say there are not mitigating circumstances that attribute to your inability to be as prepared as someone else, but to complain that it is "the system" or the format that makes it so is a cop out of the highest level.
Do you know what an ad hominen argument is..probably not. An ad hominen argument is attacking the individual rather than addressing the points they have raised. This, jack ass, is what you are doing.
What I have stated is that the current PCQ structure seems odd to me and serves as a barrier for people to particpate in the pro championships. Commenting and offering an opinion on a current state of affairs is not a "cop out". Nor does this speak to my ability level in any regards. Nor am I "frustrated" with losing...You seem to be one of the all to many people on internet boards who cannot seperate an argument from the person.
You sir, are being rather obtuse. If you disagree with my point...fine..seems alot of people do. In fact there are many valid reasons to do so. But my opinion does not speak of anything about me personally. Only someone who lacks the ability to engage in a rational discussion on an intelligent level would stoop to making personal attacks against someone they do not know.
eekamouse-that would make more sense to me than the current format. It does seem kinda skitzo to me too.
Having the PC events kick off the season may very well be a business decision to generate buzz about a new product. Plus it seems I am the only one who doesn't like this structure.
So Amsterdam was Marvel Modern.
NY will be Golden.
Indy will be DC Modern.
LA will be Golden.
PC #7 will be Marvel Modern
etc...
Every PCQ is the same format as the PC before it. So. All PCQ's are now Marvel Modern until May 29th (or whenever PC NY starts), at which time all PCQ's will be Golden... until after PC Indy.. PC Indy is what format? You just answered which format PCQ's will be following Indy, but before LA!
Thanks for clearing that up. My next PCQ, 5/29, I believe is the same day as PC NY, so do you think it will be GA then? The tournament organizer or head judge isn't sure yet.

your talking about the chicago one? <comments deleted> Looks like we are confused again...the owner is triple checking this to make sure we get it right before I screw up everthing!!
Thanks for the updates! It's really unfortunate that this weekend's was cancelled because other than for MWS On-line, I didn't get to experience Marvel Modern Age at all. Too bad GL won't be legal for that event.
Ok hold on...I'm getting some new info sense I checked the PC schedule and in fact the top 8 happens on sunday so its not really over. Although all the PCQs they are offereing at the event are golden age. Whether this is to give the palyers some play time with the golden again stuff or if the season changed at the start of the PC we don't know. Check back here for some updates and we'll probably thow up some threads in the Pro forum and hopefully updating the pastimes website.
Please update that because it is quite confusing sometimes and it doesn't seem to get updated as frequently as it should. I think you'll find that the PCQ for this weekend is still posted. This really needs to be cleared up because the players need to know what to bring. If it's GA I know what I'm bringing already but that's all I want to play for the next two weeks and I don't want to get there and have the judges say, whoops it's Modern Age still and then I'm screwed.
